Freestyle Boys State Tournament Recap

Some of the best wrestlers in the state competed in USA Wrestling’s Missouri Boys Freestyle State tournament Saturday at the Mathewson Exhibition Center in Sedalia.

The tournament had brackets for kids, 14-and-under, cadet and junior. The winners of each weight class qualified for the Missouri USA National Team that will compete in the National Dual Tournament in Tulsa, Okla. 

Below Missouriwrestling.com breaks down the winners of the cadet and junior boys freestyle weight classes at the state tournament.

Cadet Division

94: Fort Osage freshman Kaison Schreier punched his ticket to Tulsa after winning three matches by tech fall and one by pin as he went 4-0 in his round-robin bracket to take first.

100:Park Hill freshman Mason Brayfield wanted to prove he was one of the best. He did just that as he won two matches by tech fall and won a tight one, in a 6-4 decision over Farmington’s Aiden Hahn to take first.

“Last year I was the second man on the team, then I placed at Fargo (Nationals),” Brayfield said. “Now I am the No. 1 man on the team and I got to prove I was the best in Missouri and across the country…
