After spending the first three years of his high school wrestling career with the Cardinals, he is now the 152-pound wrestler for Lee’s Summit. Jay McGovern knew he would be a solid addition to the team.
That was apparent in Wednesday’s dual against Truman on the road. He got a waistlock takedown of Truman’s Aidan Manka and rolled him over for a pin in 38 seconds to help the Tigers cruise to a 64-9 victory.
“I like it here because there’s a lot more people I can wrestle in practice,” Redding said. “I don’t have to wrestle one person and there are harder practices.
“I don’t get used to one person’s style of wrestling because I face multiple people in practice.”
When Redding was mentioned, McGovern chuckled. He mentioned some of the unorthodox things the senior does in practice.
