With the state freestyle and Greco Tournaments just a week away, some wrestlers got to get some competition at the Fight or Flight Greco and Freestyle Tournaments last Saturday at Platte County High School.
In the freestyle tournament, there were two kids divisions, a girls and a cadet and junior boys divisions that gave wrestlers of all ages a chance to compete.
Let’s breaks down the boys freestyle divisions below centered around the top state finisher from each weight class:
Cadet boys freestyle
94: Lebanon’s Donovan Walters went 3-0 in his bracket, picking up a pair of pinfalls and one tech fall to capture first place.
106: Fort Osage freshman Kaison Schreier was the No. 1 seed in his bracket and her had a pair of tech falls in the first two rounds to set up a championship match with Dylan Hall of Parkville. The freshman controlled the match from start to finish and earned first place following a 13-2 tech fall.
