Christmas Time in Eldon for Mexico Lady Bulldogs-Part II

Christmas Time in Eldon-Part 2

Day two of a tournament is always a challenge.  Everyone has to get through the first few rounds on Friday night, get checked into the hotel, shower, sleep and be ready to make weight on a consecutive day.  For most of these ladies, it would be the first time through the process.  The good news for the Lady Bulldogs, they made it through without an issue.  Day two is also a test of endurance and being able to reset after having a less than ideal start on Friday night, or being able to continue their momentum after sleeping and making weight again. The goal is to get out of pool play and into the brackets.

Below are the completed and updated results of both days of the tournament.

For some of the Lady Bulldogs, Christmas came early in the form of hardware.  Four of Mexico’s lady wrestlers placed in the top six, including Katherine Bowen, Alizabeth Welch, Kaylynn Pehle, and Abby Drew.  Coach Senor is giving his team some time off over the next week to recover as well as spend time with family for Christmas before their next scheduled competition.   Overall, the team scored 79 points to finish in 8th place out of 21 teams.

The next scheduled competition for the Lady Bulldogs is going to be in Columbia, Missouri (@ Battle H.S.) at the Wonder Woman Tournament.  This will be the largest tournament of the regular season for the Mexico Lady Bulldogs with 74 other teams are slotted to be there, including teams from Oklahoma and Illinois, as well as most of the top-ranked teams in Missouri.  In years past, this event is a great mid-season gauge on how well all of the ladies will handle the post-season as well as what they need to improve upon in January to be ready for the post-season in February.
