BLUE SPRINGS — Pleasant Hill not only got a lot of wrestlers into the finals, the Roosters dominated in those matches too.
The Roosters won the title at 106 and then from 120 to 152 and also claimed first at 170 and 182. Nine total titles out of 10 finalists.
The defending Class 2 state champions rolled to the championship at the Lydia Light’s/Blue Springs South Tournament on Saturday, Jan. 29 with 555 ½ points.
Runner-up Lee’s Summit North was second with 376 and Oak Grove took third with 320. Cabot, a state-ranked team from Arkansas, was fourth with 317 ½ points and Platte County rounded out the top five with 242.
The only other team with multiple champs was Oak Grove with two.
“It is good, we have been wrestling up all season wrestled at the Stampede and Winnetonka, those were tough ones,” Pleasant Hill coach Jeff Wyatt said. “There are pretty tough schools, Platte County, Lee’s Summit North, Oak Grove and all those guys and Blue Springs South too. We still got work to do. Those are matches out there should’ve won and close ones we should’ve won and we didn’t. We had 14 guys here, you’d like to win them all but you know look at the one you should’ve won where you are close, that is where we made the biggest improvements from last week to this week.”
