Jayden Keller’s final high school match ended with a win.
The Brookfield standout can now turn her attention to competing for William Jewell College, a Division II program in Liberty.
Her final high school tournament — the U.S. Marine Corps Junior Nationals — in mid-July in Fargo, North Dakota. Representing Missouri, she posted a 5-2 record and secured her third All-American honor at that tournament.
“I always wanted to be a Fargo champ, since I was little, and I fell a little short of that this year,” she said. “All-American is still good, so I’m still proud of that.”
She ended up taking fifth for the second time in her career at Fargo. In four trips to the Fargodome, she earned All-American honors three times.
However, she was close to the finals this time around.
Keller led 7-4 against Sarissa Tucker from Virginia in the semifinals after scoring four points in 5 seconds. Tucker pulled within 7-5 with 1:31 left and then got a pin after tying the score at 7.
“I was winning pretty much the whole match and then in the last minute, I made a mistake and I got pinned,” she said. “It was pretty heartbreaking. Almost going to the finals and then falling short in that match. I wish I could go back and fix my mistake, but …”
Her voice trails off from there.
Tucker won the next match as well to claim the national championship.
Keller lost her next match as well, also by pin, against Eva Zimmerman from Utah. Zimmerman won her next match as well, taking third.
Keller ended with a forfeit win against Julia Horger from Pennsylvania in the fifth-place match.
“The goal has been the same every year,” said the 4-time MSHSAA state champion of going to Fargo. “I was going into this year with the mindset I was going to win it. I felt I wanted it more this year because it was my last year. It was my last chance to do it.”
Keller was fourth in 2023, posting a 6-2 mark. She went 3-2 in 2024 and failed to get on the podium.
In 2025, she went 6-2 again and took fifth place.
To prepare for Fargo this year, she was part of The Nest Wrestling Club, based out of William Jewell College. The work included a trip to California to workout aut with Jewell coach Desiree Ramos.
Keller spent a week and a half in Placentia, California, competing at the Premier Wrestling Training Academy.
“It was a different feel and I feel like that got us really prepared for Fargo,” she said.
In April, Keller earned All-American honors at the USA Wrestling Women’s National Championship; she won the Missouri USA Freestyle state title in May and then posted a 7-0 mark at the Women’s National Duals. She was part of the Junior Freestyles All-Tournament Team.
“It means a lot,” she said of the success. “Knowing that I can come from a small town and All-American. It’s different from all these other girls because I live far away (from a city). I tell them I’m from Brookfield, and they don’t really know where that’s at.”
She said she is thankful for all of the support she has from her hometown and relishes having a lot of the younger wrestlers that look up to her, knowing one day they could be on the podium as well.
“It means a lot coming from Brookfield,” she said.
Keller left as a four-time state champion and was 59-0 this past season. She was flat dominant in her senior campaign with 58 wins by pin or tech falls. The only exception was a 10-1 major decision in the Class 1 110-pound finals.
Her next journey starts officially on Aug. 21, when she moves to Liberty to start her college career at William Jewell.
She said the goals at the next level won’t change — she still wants to be the best.
“My first goal is to be an NCAA champion,” she said.
