The Tigers made their first big transfer portal addition this offseason with 2025 All-American Zan Fugitt. A Missouri native, Fugitt was a three-time state champ for Nixa High School. Initially out of high school he was committed to Oklahoma, but after a coaching change he switched his commitment to Wisconsin where he spent the first three seasons of his career while at 133lbs.
After a redshirt season he entered Wisconsin’s lineup and made an impressive run at NCAA’s in 2025. He entered as the #14 seed but beat the #3 and #6 seeds to make the semis and ended up finishing fourth. This past season he had a solid 21-8 record and had a win over All-American Drake Ayala. He went 1-2 at NCAA’s where he was the #16 seed and lost to #17 TK Davis and #15 Tyler Knox.
While he’s spent his career at 133 I expect him to move up to 141 in Columbia. He had some odd losses this past year and weight cut was rumored to play into it. With his addition the Tigers fill one of their bigger holes from this past season. Zeke Seltzer has entered the transfer portal and Owen Uhls is graduating. That leaves returning starter Easton Hilton, Jace Roller, and a number of incoming freshmen around that weight.
Fugitt also has two years remaining which adds to his impact. The Tigers are bringing in a number of recruits around that weight and gives more time for them to develop. In the meantime wrestlers like Gage Walker and Seth Mendoza now have an All-American as a training partner in the room. Moving up a weight always comes with questions but Fugitt has a very high ceiling and is their biggest transfer portal addition in recent memory.
