The Tigers made a late addition to the class of 2026 with the verbal commitment of Demetrios Carrera. Coming out of Illinois, he is currently #192 on the 2026 Big Board and #23 at 144lbs.

Carrera is coming off a senior season where he was a state champ at 144lbs with a 40-5 record. He is a three-time state placer finishing 1st, 3rd, and 8th in his career while at Marmion High School. This past season he has placed at multiple national tournaments including 3rd at Donnybrook and was a bloodrounder at Super 32. He won his state title at 144lbs but competed at 138lbs in the middle of the season and was down at 132lbs for Super 32.
He projects as a 133/141 which has been a position of need for the Tigers. They also recently added in Jason Hampton, another Illinois native around that weight. That now brings their 2026 class up to seven recruits overall with six Big Boarders. Right now that leaves two open roster spots unless wrestlers transfer out, so they could make more late additions or get wrestlers coming in from the portal.
