The Tigers added another piece to the class of 2026 with the verbal commitment of Jason Hampton. Coming out of Illinois, he is currently unranked on the 2026 Big Board. Hampton was originally committed to SIUE but is a late flip for this class.
Hampton is coming off a senior season where he was runner-up at 132lbs with a 43-4 season. He is a four-time state placer finishing 2nd, 3rd, 2nd, and 4th in his career with a 157-42 record while at Joliet Catholic. This past season he has placed at multiple national tournaments including winning the Al Dvorak and runner-up at the Donnybrook.
He projects as a 133/141 which has been a position of need for the Tigers. There are nine seniors graduating which leaves nine known roster spots with the 30 man cap. With six incoming recruits that also leaves more spots for transfers this offseason.
