OT Thrillers and Tech Falls: Biggs and Williams Headline a Historic Wonder Woman 2025

The Wonder Woman High School Wrestling Tournament brought elite competition to Battle High School in Columbia, Missouri on December 29–30, welcoming athletes from nine different states for one of the premier girls wrestling events in the Midwest. Missouri wrestlers rose to the occasion with multiple finalists and champions, showcasing both depth and emerging talent across the state. Senior standouts like Lilly Breeden (Liberty) captured her third Wonder Woman title at 100 pounds, while Anna Bowles (Francis Howell) earned her first championship at 125, and Carli Vargas (Kearney) and Alexis Stinson (Liberty) each secured their second titles at 190 and 235, respectively. Missouri also dominated marquee in-state finals, including a thrilling 140-pound showdown that highlighted the state’s rising stars.

Freshman performances were a major storyline, headlined by Zolah Williams (Kearney), who claimed the 105-pound championship with a dominant tech fall over a fellow top-ranked Missourian, adding multiple nationally significant wins along the way. Fellow freshman Ariel Biggs (Fort Osage) delivered one of the tournament’s most memorable moments, winning the 140-pound title in dramatic overtime fashion to earn her first Wonder Woman crown. Missouri freshmen also made their mark on the podium, including Lexi Wolk (Ste. Genevieve) at 100, Scout Puryear (Willard) at 130, Jauzlyean Gray (Fort Osage) at 135, Ilyana Martinez (Lebanon) at 140, and Kaylee Scott (Lee’s Summit North) at 155. With seasoned champions and fearless freshmen stepping onto the national stage, Missouri proved once again that its future in girls wrestling is exceptionally bright.

Champion: Lilly Breeden – Liberty High School (Senior)

Runner-Up: Naiya Delos Santos – Taylor County High School (Sophomore)

Breeden had a dominant 14-0 Maj. over Kentucky’s top ranked 100 pounder. Lilly went up quickly in the first period with a takedown and a turn for exposure from a strong wing. Breeden put up another takedown in the 2nd, accompanied by an escape and a takedown in the 3rd to go up by 14. Lilly Breeden is bringing home her 3rd Wonder Woman title.

Champion: Zolah Williams – Kearney High School (Freshman)

Runner-Up: Addison Cupp – Festus High School (Senior)

2 top ranked Missouri Girls faced off in the 105 lb. finals. It was Kearney Freshman, Zolah Williams, who came out on top with a commanding 15-0 tech fall over the Senior. Zolah added a couple significant wins to her record with a Fall over Fargo All-American and Missouri Senior, Juliana Tice; as well as Top Ranked Illinois Freshman, Annabelle Mueller.

Champion: Chloe Skiles – Roxana High School (Sophomore)

Runner-Up: Kayleigh Milam – Jackson High School (Senior)

Chloe Kiles of Roxana High School in Illinois had a 7-0 Dec. victory of Missouri Senior, Kayleigh Milam. Kayleigh saw a Stampede rematch in the Quarters with Killian Evans, where she found herself coming away on top this time with a 9-0 Maj. In the Semi’s, Milam pinned Kansas State Champ, Stella Segura to advance to her first Wonder Woman Finals.

Champion: Angelina Gochis – Kaneland High School (Junior)

Runner-Up: Aalyiah Sanders – Odessa High School (Senior)

Angelina Gochis of Kaneland High School in Maple Park Illinois, came away with the 20-4 Tech Fall over Odessa Senior, Aalyiah Samders. Gochis is currently ranked 14th in the Nation at 115. Sanders had an exciting win over Broken Arrow Junior, Brooklynn Church, in an OT thriller in the Quarters (Final score 12-9). She punched her ticket to finals with a Fall over Park Hill South Junior, Abigail Monacho, in the Semi’s.

125 –

Champion: Anna Bowles – Francis Howell (Senior)

Runner-Up: Temperance Lowe – North Kansas City (Junior)

Anna Bowles of Francis Howell secured her first Wonder Woman title with an exciting 2-0 Dec. over  North Kansas City’s, Temperance Lowe. Defense proved to be strong for both ladies in the first period with a score of 0-0 going into the second. Lowe chooses bottom in the second period where Bowles showed her strength, containing Lowe through for the entire 2:00 period. Bowles chooses bottom in the third where she gets to her feet in the first 30 seconds, securing a go behind with 1:00 left on the clock. Once again proving to be a force on top, Bowles stays strong on top, securing a 2-0 victory over Lowe.

Champion: Kyah Leyba – Broken Arrow High School (Sophomore)

Runner-Up: Addison Harkins – Nixa High School (Senior)

Oklahoma’s top ranked 125, Kyah Leyba, had a battle with returning Wonder Woman Champ, Addison Harkins, of Nixa. Leyba came out on top with a 12-6 Dec. over Harkins in a back and forth match only fit for a finals. Harkins came out of the gate with a BIG double leg to take a commanding 3-0 lead in the first period. Leyba answered back in the second period with a beautiful takedown of her own, but had no answers on top, with Harkins quickly getting back to her feet. Leyba answered the call yet again, scoring with a buzzer beater 3 to end the period on top, 6-4. Both wrestler with stalling calls in the second, go into a heated third period, where Leyba secured 2 more takedowns, against a point given for stalling with a final Dec. 12-6 victory.

Champion: Ariel Biggs – Fort Osage High School (Freshman)

Runner-Up: Keely Fallert – Ste. Genevieve High School (Junior)

2 of Missouri’s top ranked wrestlers took the mats for the battle of the century where freshman, Ariel Biggs, came out on top in an absolute shootout. Biggs came out firing quickly, taking a commanding 16-3 lead over Fargo All-American, Keely Fallert through almost all of the first 2 periods. With :10 left on the clock, Fallert found an opportunity, scoring the takedown with +4 nearfall closing the gap 16-10. Fallert chooses bottom in the 3rd but is brought to her feet by Ariel to start the period neutral (16-11). Fallert was able to answer the call with a quick takedown in the 3rd and a hard cut to bring the score 17-14. With less than a minute on the clock Keely gets back in on a shot, scoring the tying takedown on the edge of the mat to take these ladies into OT. Tied at 17, and running on fumes, these ladies showed their defense until the final seconds of OT when Fallert gets in on a Hi-C. Ariel’s sprawl attempt fails and Fallert is able to recollect her shot, but is ultimately denied a second time by Biggs. With heavy hip and every ounce of energy left, Ariel secures the go behind to take the OT victory and win her first Wonder Woman Title.

Runner-Up: Kendall Angelo – Oak Park High School (Senior)

A Missouri Class 2 clash that did not disappoint. Both ladies currently ranked top 1 and 2 in the state at 190, and both earning top seeds at Wonder Woman. Angelo got the victory over Vargas this past month in the Finals at KC Stampede by 4-0 Dec. Strong defense kept the score tied 0-0 going into the Second with Angelo choosing bottom. Angelo quickly escapes to her feet where the 2 exchange shots throughout the period. Angelo takes a single that is blocked hard by Vargas and she is able to secure a takedown with +2 nearfall at the edge of the mat. The period ends with Angelo quickly getting the escape and a score of 5-2 in favor of Vargas. Carli chooses bottom in the 3rd period and gets the escape, adding to her lead. After a stall call late by in the 3rd, Vargas answers with a shot of her own and securing the takedown. The clock expires with Vargas on top 9-4. Carli Vargas is now a 2x Wonder Woman Champ!

Champion: Alexis Stinson – Liberty High School (Senior)

Runner-Up: Sophiea Quinn – Lebanon High School (Senior)

Wonder Woman ended with another Class 2 Clash of titans. The first period was a battle ending with Quinn throwing a beautiful Chin Whip to put Stinson straight to her back and secure an additional +4 nearfall. The second period starts with Stinson choosing bottom. Stinson is able to pull out an amazing reversal to close the period out a little closer to Quinn 7-2. Stinson chooses neutral to start the 3rd and quickly finds success with a throw. Stinson throws and her power have to muscles through to get the Fall and close out the Wonder Woman. Alexis Stinson is now a 2x Wonder Woman Champ!
