William Woods University wrestling program enters a new era tonight as the Eierman brothers lead the Owls/Lady Owls on the road versus perennial NAIA powerhouse Grand View University (Des Moines, IA).

William Woods does have a large portion of their lineups back from last season on both the men and women’s side and are looking to improve upon last season’s results both individually and as a team.

Being a young program they have yet to have anyone graduate (minus transfers) yet that started with the program as freshman.

They have had several transfers from other institutions, largely due to the coaching change that was made earlier this summer when Jacob Lorentz left to coach at Kentucky Wesleyan and William Woods brought in the Eiermans to help lead their program moving forward.

Grand View University on the other hand, are coming off a men’s national championship season where they had 7 out of 10 wrestlers reach the national finals.

Overall, they have one 13 of the last 17 team titles at the NAIA level.  Their women’s program, starting more recently than their men’s team, have worked their way up as well in the national team rankings and finished 2nd last year at the NAIA Women’s National Tournament.
