After day one Mizzou has two wrestlers still alive and are sitting in 31st place with 5.5 points. Keegan O’Toole is into the quarters while Cam Steed fell into the consolations. Kade Moore, Josh Edmond, J Conway, and Colton Hawks are all out of the tournament. They wrestled tough but fell short to tough opponents. The team score is tough but could take a big jump if O’Toole is able to make the semis tomorrow morning. Session three starts at 11AM CT and can be streamed on ESPNU and ESPN+.

Moore had a tough draw and had some moments but ultimately finished 0-2 at his second NCAA’s. He didn’t have much against Ayala, who’s ability to finish at the ankle stopped most of Moore’s scrambling. Against Noto he came razor close to winning scrambles and putting Noto on his back in a close match, but Noto is savvy and was able to roll through and get the takedowns himself.

I thought Edmond had a solid path here but tough opponents and more than questionable officiating has him finish 0-2. He was sporting a new headgear typically worn after head injuries, which could be related to his Big 12 performance.
