After a smaller recruiting class last season the Tigers are bringing in a well rounded class with nine recruits, including six in the top 125 of MatScouts 2024 Big Board. The Tigers have been active in several states they’ve had more success in recently including Wisconsin, Oklahoma, Idaho, Georgia, and Texas. I would expect most of these recruits to redshirt, but they have multiple impact wrestlers in this class.
Two more recent recruits I haven’t had the chance to dive into yet are Owen Uppinghouse and Kolten Oborny. Neither are on the Big Board, but have had solid high school results.
Owen Uppinghouse competed for Quincy High School in Illinois and was a two-time state placer, finishing 3rd in his last two years. He was 101-3 in his last two years and QHS’s third ever two-time medalist. He projects as a 165/174 in college.
Kolten Oborny competed for Conroe High School in Texas where he was a three-time placer and state champ as a senior. He was 6th as a sophomore, 3rd as a junior, and was 52-3 as a senior while winning a title at 157lbs. He projects as a 157/165 in college.
Another unranked wrestler is Logan Cole from Montana. Tyrel Todd, a three-time Montana State champ, was listed as being a big reason for Cole choosing Mizzou. He was a four-time state medalist and one-time champ for Billings High School. He placed 3rd as a freshman, 4th as a sophomore, 2nd as a junior, and won an undefeated state title his senior year at 170lbs. In addition to his wrestling credentials, he had a perfect ACT score. He projects as a 165/174 in college.
Mack Mauger is the first of the ranked recruits, coming in at #125 and projecting at 125lbs. Mauger won four state titles while representing Blackfoot High School, most recently at 126lbs. He was the Dave Schultz High School Excellence award winner for Idaho this year. He was 160-8 in his career, with only one of those losses coming from an Idaho opponent while the rest were at national tournaments. He is the #3 overall recruit out of Idaho this season.
Mauger is also extremely credentialed in freestyle, being Idaho’s only five-time Fargo champ and is tied for first all-time with six podium finishes…
