With only two Division I schools in the state, more and more talent is spread across the country.
Gavynn Carpenter recently won a state title at 144 for Hallsville, but was also a runner-up at 138 and 132 along with a 3rd place finish at 120 as a freshman.
A career record of 170-17, he was a runner-up at the 2022 Folkstyle Nationals.
