Warriors And Guardians Test Dynastic Roosters

On Tuesday, December 13th, the two-time defending Class 2 state champion Pleasant Hill Roosters traveled north of the Missouri River to face two small school contenders in St. Michael the Archangel, and the triangular hosts, St. Pius X Warriors.

The Warriors came into the matchup boasting several state ranked wrestlers in Class 1 including top ranked 138 pound Marco Dalakishvili, as well as two defending state champs in 132 pounder Noah Gonzalez and 215 pound Rylan Kuhn rounding out the current second ranked squad in Class 1. Meanwhile the Guardians brought one returning state champion and Greco Roman national champion, heavyweight Sampson Stillwell. 132 pound Lucas Berry and 150 pound Lucas Estes were among the ranked standouts for the fifth ranked Guardians in Class 2.

Pleasant Hill and St. Michaels kicked the evening off with a hotly contested, back and forth 126 pound matchup that saw Rooster Sophomore Aiden Minor squeak out a 7-5 decision over Guardian Freshman Austin Stevick. After a quick Lucas Berry pin, the Roosters rolled, with Troy Gustin, Lane Snyder, and Garrett Lyons pinning their opponents, while Brayden Bass and Sam Ewing picked up uncontested wins.
