#14 Mizzou 21 over #6 Oklahoma State 20
Two shorthanded teams showed up to the Hearnes, but the Tigers were the ones that got out with a win. While Mizzou did not wrestle their best and gave up some tough losses, they rebounded from an early 12-0 hole after the dual started at 141lbs. Allan Hart and Peyton Mocco both missed this dual. I believe Hart may have a rib injury after what happened against Wyoming last week. Peyton Mocco weighed in and was announced as a possibility but Harman got the start again. Harman at 174lbs is now on a three match win streak, all over ranked opponents. Mizzou took advantage of OSU missing #8 Trevor Mastrogiovanni in a big way, with Surtin’s pin clinching the dual.
141lbs: #21 Carter Young over Connor Brown (Dec. 7-4)
Brown wrestled in his third weight class of the season after starting the year at 125lbs and filling in at 133lbs throughout this year. With his length, he did not look considerably smaller than Young. However, Young’s skilled handfighting and ability to get to legs gave him issues throughout the match, causing Brown to give up two takedowns and a reversal. The OSU staff seemed to be familiar with Brown’s dangerous ability though, as they did not want Carter to spend too much time working for turns on top. In a tough situation Brown did enough to not give up bonus points in a ranked match. It sounds like Hart may get rested until Big 12’s so prepare to see Brown for some more duals.
