Mizzou came out against a more-than-game Jackrabbits team and lost six of ten matches, including the last five of the dual. O’Toole and Mocco both missed this dual, and the broadcast said O’Toole was healthy but resting. There was also a lineup change at 133lbs where we saw Connor Brown instead of Trey Crawford who wrestled in an extra match post dual. Mizzou looked flat and gassed early again after a tough OU dual, which is not good at this point in the season. Even in matches that they won, there were no bonus wins for Mizzou.
125lbs: Noah Surtin over Tanner Jordan (Dec. 6-0)
Surtin avenged the loss from last season in a one-sided win. The first period saw Surtin trying to work a lot of upper body but couldn’t find the finish. He went on to score a takedown in the second period and nearfall in the third period, putting on strong rides in each. While Surtin got a nice win, I was frustrated with how much he was trying to go upper body early. It felt like he was looking for a big move throughout the match. Surtin looked better in this match after OU but still seemed to lack some pop at times.
133lbs: Gabe Tagg over Connor Brown (Fall 0:26)
