Final: Mizzou 26 Lehigh 9
I was worried about the possibility of Mizzou coming out flat after a tough loss to NC State day one, but they came out and wrestled one of the best duals I’ve seen from them aside from the match at 157lbs. Surtin continues his breakout season with another win over a ranked opponent. I think Mizzou had some matches where they left some points on the board but came away with wins against tough opponents. The losses were tough for a variety of reasons, and I think it shows where there’s some distance between where our wrestlers currently are and where they need to be.
125lbs: #15 Noah Surtin over #11 Jaret Lane (Dec: 10-4)
Noah Surtin gave up the first takedown but didn’t stay down for long. He then scored his own takedown and rideout to finish the first period. Surtin gave up a reversal getting too aggressive for his armbar and went into the third period on bottom, with riding time, and down one point. Surtin hit a reversal on the edge and scored four nearfall with his toe in bounds to ice the win. With two top twelve wins this season, Surtin has made a name for himself and has done so in exciting fashion.
