Starting something that has never been done before is a challenge by itself. Starting something new during a pandemic takes that challenge and exponentially increases its difficulty.
This was the exact task veteran teacher and coach, Tony Senor was given when told he was selected to run the new girls wrestling program at Mexico High School.
There had been girls who wrestled in the past for the boys’ team at Mexico but nothing on a consistent basis. Recruiting when a portion of your students are 100 percent virtual was one of the many challenges faced by Senor.
He wasn’t alone as coaches across the state were facing similar difficulties.
