The Oak Park Northmen were in for a tough challenge Thursday night as they were going against a Fort Osage that came off a Grain Valley Invitational tournament the Saturday before.

After Fort Osage 113-pounder Rylan Mansfield used a quick takedown and a cradle to pin Adrian Aguirre in 1:02, the Indians took a 36-24 lead in the team score and seemed to be in a good position to win as only four matches were left on the card.

However, the Northmen made a furious comeback which was highlighted by a gutsy win from 132-pounder Jacob Wooten that helped give his team a 42-36 win at Fort Osage High School.

“It came down to Wooten and he stepped up big for us,” Oak Park coach Jake Oberfoell said. “He got in a good position and got a big win.”

Fort Osage was ahead 36-33 going into the penultimate match featuring Wooten and Fort Osage’s Bryan Herrera. The Indians just needed a decision to guarantee at least a tie as the last match would be a forfeit victory for Oak Park’s Jet Holder at 138.
