Maysville, Missouri, about 40 miles east of St. Joseph with a population roughly over 1,200. The Wolverines, who have a small roster, are lead by two ranked back-to-back wrestlers in the latest Missouri Wrestling Class 1 rankings with 195lbs senior, Trent Strong, who is ranked #5 and 220lb junior Cole Gripka, who is ranked #2.
While the roster of the Maysville Wolverines may be small, these wrestlers are getting after it on the mat. These two upperclassmen leading the way have a combined record of 24-1 (12-0 for Cole, 12-1 for Trent) for the current 2019-2020 season, while fellow senior Conner Berry, sports a 7-2 record. On the underclassmen side, Cooper Berry and Kaleb Jestes are both making names for themselves on the mat with a 14-5 and 12-4 records respectively.
Cole Gripka, currently ranked #2, is coming off a 5th-place finish at the Missouri state tournament and has been on a winning streak ever since. For Gripka’s junior campaign, he’s racked up champion status at the Ray Stockdale Invitational and the Battle at Katy Station, which is dubbed the mini-state tournament due to the number of class 1 teams who participated.
