Truman Wrestling at Harold Nichols Cyclone Open

AMES, Iowa – The Truman Wrestling teams were at the Harold Nichols Cyclone Open on Saturday hosted by Iowa State University.
The tournament had two divisions, the Open Division and the Freshman/Sophomore Division.

In the open, Caleb Osborn got the only victory of the day out of the four Bulldogs competing in that division. Osborn won his second match of the day, 9-1 over Darren Eades of Northern Iowa.

Six Truman wrestlers were in the Freshman/Sophomore division and heavyweight Jules Joseph went 3-0 on the day to take top honors. Joseph won his first match by fall and second by a 6-3 score in the round-robin bracket. He squared off against teammate Ashton Mutuwa for the title as both wrestlers entered the match with 2-0 records. Joseph won in overtime 3-1.

Will Tindal picked up a pin fall win at 197 and Nick Peglow earned a second round fall win over UNI’s Chase Lienhard to place fifth in the 141-bracket.

Truman will compete at the Missouri Duals in Columbia next Sunday. They will face Central Missouri, Missouri Valley and the University of Missouri in three separate dual matches. First bouts are slated for noon at the Hearnes Center.
