Harrisonville hosted Smithville and Richmond on Tuesday night, and the story of the triangular played out in the last dual of the evening.

Harrisonville jumped out to a 31-0 lead over Smithville, only to see Smithville charge back in the 2nd half of the event and ultimately win the dual by a score of 42-34!

Due to one ‘open’ weight for each team and one starter for Smithville out of the lineup (sick), each coaching staff made several moves during the dual to position their teams for a fantastic finish.

Here is how it played out:

Dual started at 170 lbs.  Nick Bollinger (S) bumped up from 160 to 170 to take on Braden Danner (H); Bollinger gave a great effort, but Danner takes a 9-1 victory.  4-0 Harrisonville

Harrisonville gathers wins by fall at 182, 195, and 220 lbs.  22-0 Harrisonville

Harrisonville gets a decision at HWT and another fall at 106 lbs to go up 31-0 after 6 matches.

JT O’Rourke (S) gets Smithville’s first win of the night with a fall at 113 lbs.  31-6 Harrisonville

Bryce Harding (S) bumps up from 113 to 120 lbs to cover Smithville’s open position, and has a great match with Mason Gaddie (H).  Gaddie wins the match 8-3 to put Harrisonville up 34-6.

Harrisonville forfeits matches at 126 and 132 lbs; 34-18 Harrisonville with 4 matches left.

Mitchell Bohlken (S) wins by fall at 138 lbs, 34-24 H’Ville

Ryan Hampton (S) wins by fall at 145 lbs, 34-30 H’Ville

With matches remaining at 152 and 160, Smithville had 2 wrestlers; Harrisonville had one wrestler plus an ‘open’ weight.  Harrisonville takes a forfeit at 152 to Alex Rivera (S), and the Warriors take their first lead, 36-34!

Harrisonville bumps Drake Mathews up to 160 lbs to face Zack Stanford (S) in a “winner-takes-all” finale!  The gymnasium is rocking, and after one period the score is 2-2.  Midway through the 2nd period, Stanford turns his opponent and gets the fall, completing the 31 point comeback!

Congrats to both squads, as they wrestled well and fought for every point in the match!
