Platte County medals six at Gardner Edgerton

Filger, Saale, Rocha, Gammill, Walls and Keuhn all medal for the Pirates at the always tough Gardner-Edgerton Invitational

December 4, 2018

Platte County finished ninth out of 15 teams as the only representative from Missouri. The Pirates had six total medalists but didn’t have a finalist in a tough field that included top teams from multiple states.

Nick Filger, a senior and returning Class 3 state qualifier, led the way for Platte County with a third-place showing at 138 pounds. He lost by fall to senior Trent Dooley of Allen (Texas) in the championship semifinals, and Dooley went on to win the individual title with a 46-second pin in the final. Dooley is a Preseason Junior National Champion who recently signed to wrestle at the newly started Division I wrestling program, Little Rock, coached by Neil Erisman from DeSoto, KS.
