Neosho sophomore Cayden Auch topped a weight class featuring three state champions, part of a balanced effort for the host Wildcats.

Auch won an 11-3 major decision over McDonald County junior Oscar Ortiz — a 2018 Class 3 state champion at 120 and the first in program history for the Mustangs. Auch was the 2018 Class 3 state champion at 106 pounds and passed an early season test.

Belton senior Brayden Bradley was also in the 126 bracket, losing a 7-5 decision to Ortiz in pool wrestling. Bradley, a 2017 Class 3 state champion, will be up in Class 4 this year with the Pirates moving up in classification.
