First Round Match: #2 Daniel Lewis vs. #31 Travis Stefanik, PRIN
Potential Second Round: #2 Daniel Lewis vs. #15 Ryan Christianson, WISC
Potential Quarter: #2 Lewis vs. #7 Jacobe Smith, OKST
Potential Semi: #2 Lewis vs. #3 Zahid Valencia, AZST
Potential Final: #2 Lewis vs. #1 Mark Hall, PSU
Thoughts on seed fairness: Lewis got seeded exactly where he should have. Lewis went 9-1 vs. the field this season. Lewis grabbed wins over #3 Valencia, #5 Kutler, #8 Lujan X2, #9 Skatzka, #13 Wilson, #16 Womack, #19 Smith and #21 Coleman. Lewis took his only loss vs. #4 Amine.
Thoughts on draw: Lewis got a fairly good draw in my opinion. He should score bonus points in each of his first two bouts.
Last season Lewis handed Smith a 7-3 loss in the dual. I favor Lewis to grab the win here over Smith in a similar controlled decision. Lewis has a huge semi with Valencia. Lewis pinned him in the middle of a really tight match during the season. I favor Lewis slightly and believe he will collect a second win over Valencia to advance to the finals here. Valencia is probably better on his feet, but Lewis is good enough to take him down and reverse him. I believe Lewis has a better gas tank than Zahid and that combined with his top game gives him the edge here. Hall matches up really well with Lewis and was able to pin him last season. I think Hall will beat him in a tight one in the NCAA finals. Hall is so talented on his feet and in scrambles that he is unlikely to have to go under Lewis. If Lewis gets a chance on top he could certainly find his way to a win. If Lewis loses in the semis I see him getting past #5 Kutler in the consi semis and then avenging his only loss of the regular season against #4 Amine to take third.
Prediction of Placement: I have Lewis taking 2nd here. Lewis could really finish anywhere from 1st to 4th here. Hopefully he finishes his senior season on a strong note with a title.
