Overall: This dual will take place at Noon central time on Sunday. This should be a really fun dual despite the fact that I have the score being so lopsided.
John Stutzman for Buffalo is a really quality coach and his guys always wrestle really hard, so Missouri will get their best shot. 125, 133, 157,197 and 285 should all be really fun matches that could go either way.
I am really excited for this dual and will be on camera matside on the broadcast handheld if anyone wants to come say hi before the dual. All rankings utilized in this article are courtesy of Flowrestling.
Cam Valdiviez (8-2) vs. Kyle Akins (7-4)
Thoughts: Colby Smith has a huge pull this season and is on a bit of a pitch count as far as matches go, so it is lucky for the Tigers that they have a back up as solid and funky as Valdiviez is. Valdiviez is a lot of fun to watch and is aggressive in looking to score in scrambles and from the top position. He does seem to struggle with wrestlers who are extremely positionally solid though. Akins was an NCAA qualifier two seasons ago in 2017 and is very good at controlling position and executing once he gets to the legs. Akins at times has struggled with funkier guys and Valdiviez is likely to give him fits in scramble situations. I think Akins gets out to an early lead here, but that Valdiviez storms back and wins a close one in what should be a very exciting bout.
