The Lafayette Lancers are coming off a very strong 2016-2017 season where they placed 4th in Class 4 with 96.5 points, .5 points behind 3rd place, Park Hill. The Lancers lose seniors Caleb Covert and state runner-up, Austin Stofer to graduation who had a combined senior record of 77-14.

The Lancers return state medalists Jayden Carson (6th) Jaylen Carson (3rd) Cam Wegener (4th), Anthony Michaels (6th) and Cortez Woods (4th). The Lancers also return state qualifier Austin Wegener who lost in the bubble match at state last year, with the following wrestlers from the line up last year Desean Reese, Carson Boren, Aaron Toben, and Jake Malven.

Coach Jonathan Sumner will have his Lancers ready to rumble in 2017-2018. These wrestlers are hungry to get a team trophy in ‘18 and put in the work this off-season. The Lafayette Lancer wrestlers played a huge role in the historic placement from a Missouri Team at the AAU Scholastic Duals (Disney Duals) in Orlando, Florida, this summer.
