103 Weight Class

The 103 weight class has come heavy hitters with some amazing records.  However, two wrestlers’ bodies of work come out on top: Emalie Olson and Faith Cole.

Faith Cole, a freshman, comes into the State Tournament with an unblemished record of 19-0.  Emalie comes into the state tournament with an 18-1 record, with her one loss coming by way of DQ for a slam.

These two are the front-runners of the weight class due to their National level experience as well. Faith earned All-American honors at USAW Preseason Nationals, taking 5th place after beating Emalie 4-2 in the 5th Place match.

Emalie also has a Fargo All-American finish, taking 8th in Cadet Freestyle Nationals in 2017. However, going by their bodies of work during the regular season and Emalie’s more extensive high school wrestling experience, we are giving Emalie a slight edge in this highly anticipated and very close-to-call rematch.

Hailie Terry of Fox has an equally impressive record of 27-1, and has an edge being a senior at the 103 weight, and Ashlyn Eli of Nixa has a shiny 22-1 record to her credit as well. Looking at the brackets and where everybody falls, this will likely be the top four.

Featured first round matches to watch:

Patterson (Ray-Pec) vs. Sheckells (Staley) , Mustain (Camdenton)  vs. Greer (Cameron)

Missouriwrestling.com Predictions

  1. Emalie Olson (Kearney) - Jr.
  2. Faith Cole (Lafayette-Wildwood) - Fr.
  3. Haillie Terry (Fox) - Sr.
  4. Ashlyn Eli (Nixa) - Fr.

110 Weight Class

The 110 weight class has a clear front runner in nationally ranked Autumn Flanigan of Troy Buchanan, who currently comes in at 17th in the country at 112 lbs. (USA Wrestling ranks the girls based off of USA Wrestling weight classes).

She placed 7th at Cadet Nationals in Fargo in 2017 at the 117 lb. weight class, and last year represented Team USA in the Klippan Lady Open in Sweden, taking 6th place.

She will likely go up against Kaylynn Crocker of St. James, who has a great record of 11-1, with her only loss coming by pin at the hands of Flanigan.
