On the weekend of January 5th through the 6th, Lindenwood University hosted GACs, one of the largest local tournaments, and certainly one of the most challenging. With 17 teams competing, there was an abundance of exciting matches, and close periods.
The finals would start out with the 106 weight class, featuring Hayden Ferrell (Fr.) out of Holt and Brandon Khoury (10) out of Timberland. These cross town rivals started scrappy and aggressive right off the bat in the first, leaving the score 0-0 at the end of the first period as the two struggled to gain position. Holt would choose down in the start of the second and would quickly draw a clasping call, for one point at the expense of Khoury. However, Khoury would hold Ferrell until the end of the period, not giving up an escape nor reversal. Holt would start 3rd on top, nearly losing control halfway through the period, but narrowly riding his opponent out until the very end. Holt would win 1-0.
113 featured two long time rivals, seeing each other their fair share of times throughout the past couple years. Cameron Steinhoff (Sr.) out of Liberty would face Ben Bohr (Jr.) from Saint Charles, starting the first off quickly paced. After several potential scoring opportunities, the pair would come up scoreless in the first and start the second with Liberty down.
