NWHOF Missouri Chapter Banquet

The Missouri Chapter of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame has announced the 2017 slate of inductees for our Hall of Fame Banquet. We are inducting four Lifetime Service Award winners and an Outstanding American Award winner. Our inductees will be celebrated Sunday, October 22nd, 2017, at the Holiday Inn Executive Center located at 2200 I-70 Drive S.W., Columbia, MO 65203. Our social will start at 3:00pm and the banquet will begin at 4:00pm. All proceeds from the Hall of Fame banquet go directly to the National Wrestling Hall of Fame in Stillwater, Oklahoma, in the name of our inductees. For their tremendous contributions to the sport of wrestling, we are proud to announce the following inductees into the National Wrestling Hall of Fame:
 Skip Watkins - Lifetime Service to Wrestling
 Bill Erneste – Lifetime Service to Wrestling
 Craig Martin – Lifetime Service to Wrestling
 Harold Ritchie – Lifetime Service to Wrestling
 Brent Trickel – Outstanding American
We will also be recognizing our Missouri Chapter honorees, the Athlete(s) of the Year, Person of the Year and the Family Circle. These awards are a way to honor individuals and families for contributions that have had a huge impact locally on our sport. Athlete of the year awards will go to Ali Howk, formally of Blue Springs High School and Ashton Sharp of Park Hill High School. Both of these wrestlers won championships at the prestigious Cadet/Junior National Championships along with making a USA Wrestling World Team.
The Missouri Chapter’s Person of the Year this year is Gary Mayabb. Coach Mayabb’s Staley Falcons won the first state Championship in school history in this year’s Class 4 Championships. Now retired from high school coaching, Coach Mayabb is working at USA Wrestling as the Manager of Greco Roman Programs. The Missouri Chapter’s Family Circle Honor is awarded to The Krause Family from Farmington, Missouri. The Krause’s have been involved in Missouri wrestling over 30 years, dating back to the early 1980’s and have contributed to the sport at many levels.
There will be a social hour beginning at 3:00 p.m., allowing time to mingle with the honorees and others in our wrestling community. Dinner will be served at 4:00 p.m. with the induction ceremony to follow. A cash bar will also be available throughout the duration of this momentous event. Please do not arrive before 3:00 pm for entry into the banquet area.
Reservations must be made in advance! Individual banquet tickets can be purchased for $50 per adult, $15 for children. Tables are available for $400 and will allow for seating of up to 8 individuals. There are also numerous sponsorship opportunities available if you are interested in sponsoring either an honoree or the banquet itself.
If you are the coach of a Missouri high school, college or club, please do everything possible to make sure that your team or club is represented at the banquet! WE NEED THE SUPPORT OF OUR COACHES in the state of Missouri!
