  1. Hallsville is looking for an assistant wrestling coach for the 2020-2021 season. This position will probably assist with both middle and high school. We are a Class 1 program located conveniently located 10 miles from Columbia. Current teaching positions include elementary school and 504 coordinator. The possibility to coach other sports exists, but is not required. We will also consider a non-faculty coach. If interested, please contact Coach David Nugent at dnugent@hallsville.org or 660-349-9257.
  2. Hallsville High School is exploring the possibility of starting a tournament on Saturday, January 2, 2021. We are looking for teams that are interested in participating, regardless of classification. So far teams that have expressed interest are: Hallsville, Fatima, Macon, Moberly, Gateway Science Academy, St. James. The format is to be determined, but we will most likely run a 16 man bracket or a scramble format depending on the total number of teams. Hallsville is located 10 miles North of Columbia, so we are about as central as you can get. We are close to lots of hotels and restaurants for your teams and families. We run a great youth tournament every year and I would expect no less for a high school tournament. Contact head wrestling coach, David Nugent at dnugent@hallsville.org if you are interested.

  15. Minutes from Advisory Committee: Stahl asked if the current 50 individual match limitation was suitable for 14-18 year old kids. He has seen well-conditioned Division I athletes that are doing less than 30 or less matches. Two day tournaments are a lot for these kids and it gets them close to the 50 match limit. Martin stated that if something was done on this issue, it needs to be in the future because most schools are still committed to certain tournaments for next season(2018-19). After further discussion Whitson motioned to recommend changing By-Law 3.26.1 to reduce the maximum number of matches during the season, prior to the district tournament, to 45 matches, excluding forfeits. Change to become effective during the 2019-20 season, second by DeVenney. Motion passed 7-0.
