Center aiming to increase state qualifiers, build on successes

“They have worked hard the last four years and were one of the reasons why we had a winning record last season. Our team motto is, ‘Finish" — no matter if it is a drill, a shot or a match," Center coach Charles Misher, Jr. said.

The final dual record in 2017-18 for Center stood at 17-14 — the first winning season in five years for the Yellowjackets.

Center will have eight seniors on this year’s roster — two with a chance to reach 100 career wins — ready to build on those successes and increase the qualifiers for the Class 2 Missouri State Wrestling Championships. The Yellowjackets will move on without three-time qualifier Daylyn Snelling and Elijah Lewis, injured during the season a year ago.

However, Genesis Ballinger will lead the senior returners after reaching state at 182 pounds a year ago. He will anchor the lineup this season at either 182 or 195.

“We are blessed to have eight seniors in the program this season,” Center coach Charles Misher, Jr. said.
