The newly crowned Class 4 champions traveled north to Independence, Iowa and came away with a team championship.

CBC put three in the finals and placed six in the top five in an elite 33-team field. The Cadets ended up with 299 points and held on for the title over Scott West (Minnesota), which finished second with 271½.

Josh Saunders, already a two-time state champion in Class 4, started his senior season with a run to the 145-pound title. In the final, he pinned Pleasant Valley (Iowa) junior Eli Lloyd in the first period. Lloyd is a two-time state medalist in Iowa and state runnerup a year ago.

CBC lost its three other finals, starting at 132.
