Rockwood Summit with tall task to follow up best season in program history

Created by: Ross Martin

By any measure, Rockwood Summit experienced a transcendent season in 2018-19. There were two Class 3 Missouri State Wrestling Championships individual titles, four medalist, and seven qualifiers.

Rockwood Summit placed fifth in the final Class 3 team state standings — the best in program history.

The main pieces creating that memorable finish have all graduated, leaving the next wave with a standard to strive toward in the future. Sam Frankowski was the first and only three-time state champion in program history, while Evan Brooks completed one of the most memorable success stories in recent memories, going from JV as a freshman to state qualifier to third place at state to pulling a minor upset against Smithville’s Jake Boyd in last year’s 195-pound final.
