View Full Version : ALL REVERSAL TEAM

Welcome to the first edition of the ALL REVERSAL TEAM. The ART, as it will come to be known throughout the land, is a team consisting of wrestlers that "bring it". These wrestlers bring it everytime, every second of every match. When these wrestlers are on the mat, the bathrooms and concession stands are empty. All eyes are focused on the action. These are the true action figures of our beloved sport.
The team will have a strong St. Louis flavor, as these are the wrestlers that I see the most. However, some wrestlers refuse to go unnoticed no matter where they reside. Some undefeated, some state champs, and maybe a wrestler who is both will be left off the team because of their passivity at times, seemingly waiting for a zebra to decide the bout. Some will be left off because I personally haven't seen them enough. But believe me, the ones that make it are those you will especially want to have an eye on in Columbia for your own enjoyment.
The team will be named in installments. I don't want to take too much of your attention at any one time, and I also don't want it to look like a Louden post. As we go on, any comments or criticisms will be greatly appreciated, however probably not considered or taken seriously.

so.....are you just gonna let it sink in a bit and build up the anticipation?

This should be good.

Killing them solfly. Confuse the enemy. Lure them into a false sense of security. All of these things come to mind when I think of the the first member of the ALL REVERSAL TEAM. The junior, from Lafayette H.S., ASHLEY HUDSON. Probably the only member of the team who will adjust their makeup after ripping your arm off and beating you over the head with it. You think you have to be tough to wrestle? You do. But how about doing it as a girl? Unbelievable! I've never seen anything quite like it. She doesn't care who she faces, she brings it. You will never get anything less than everything she has when you go against her. And most times than not, it's her hand that gets raised at the end.

I agree with your 103lber.

Next on the mat, the LT of wrestling, the LESTER TWINS. Sure, one is doing a little better than the other right now, but you can't separate these guys. Besides, there was a rumor that if I only picked one, the other would sneak in and take his place from time to time. Who would know? I have been in and around wrestling for longer then I care to admit, but I have NEVER seen anyone come on the scene like these guys. Placed in state? Oh, state champ? I don't care. I'll kick your butt! Right here. Right now. Let's go! As far as I know, Nick hasn't had anything less than a tech yet. And this is at 112, not 103. You have got to be kidding me. And these guys are freshman? Come on. We are seeing the beginning of a set of wrestling legends. Don't take your eyes of either of these guys for a second. You may miss something you have never seen before.

"When these wrestlers are on the mat, the bathrooms and concession stands are empty."

That quote gave your first selection away. That and you giving up Tonka, Hickman, and Howell for the Lafayette tourney.

The Lesters...does anyone have a match by match recap from the Howell Central Tournament. I want to say that the 112 pounders streak of tech/falls ended there. They do seem to wrestle beyond their years. They have that reputation already to make every eye in the gym turn to them. That is impressive for freshman.

Randy these kids have been kicking peoples a**es for the last 8 years where have you been? The only differance now is their on a larger stage and most importantly they have turned it up a notch or two. GREAT job boys stay after it!

Thanks Randy, we'll see what happens at State. I have to defer to this whole freshman class, because there are many kids in it just as good as the twins.

Mayor McCheese Nick pinned in all his matches, however Wheelis and Minter wrestled him tough. I think both of them looked better than when I saw them earlier in the year.

Next on the mat, from FZW, the senior, Erik "THE BEAST" Warner. I had heard of Warner his freshman year, but I'll never forget the first time I saw him on the mat. It was the SCW tournament and he was pacing back and forth, never taking his eyes off his opponent, who was receiving medical attention. Imagine that. He reminded me of a caged lion, waiting for the door to open and begin the feeding frenzy. There is a line in the movie "Remember the Titans" where Bertier, the all-American linebacker is asked how strong he was. His reply, "too strong". With Warner it is intensity. He may be too intense, if there is such a thing in wrestling. He is, without a doubt the most intense wrestler I have seen in forty years of watching the sport. Never take your eyes off this guy. I guarantee you his opponents don't. With Warner on the team I have decided to carry our own blood man.

Rounding out the lower weights, the sophomore from Farmington, Craig Wilson. This guy is a machine. All business. Take em down, let em up. Take em down, let em up. Oh well, time to pin. I asked him at Oakville if he was going to stay undefeated this year. He said he hoped so. I myself expect it. This year and the next two also. He could have been a four-timer, except for a 5 pt. slip to begin the match against the defending state champ last year. I believe he ended up losing 10-9 with the champ on the ropes. Don't expect that to happen this year. If you are looking for a technician, always on the move, catch one of his matches. You won't be disappointed.

Wait a second, I don't get it. So far we have two 119-pounders. Is Matt Lester the backup or is Warner? Or are you bumping one up to 125 and Wilson to 130?

Sorry for the delay. Had to deal with a couple of difficult customers, successfully I might add.
Clown Boy. Becky Oates and Dale Pleimann both nixed the prizes and subsequent trip to Disney World. Pleimann did offer to take one member on tour "island hopping" as he put it, but I turned him down. However, with the addition of Warner on the team, the American Red Cross is thinking about sponsoring a tour in conjunction with a blood drive campaign.
As for the weight class issue, looks like some of the guys get to eat a little more on this team. I'm sure it won't hurt the team's performance.

The middle weights have two Brandons, two Jaguars, two Norsemen, two Juniors and too much talent.

RandyReversal
02-09-2006, 11:09 AM
Up next, from Oak Park, senior Zack Bailey. This of course was a no brainer. What can be said that hasn't already been said?

RandyReversal

These guys, like the Lesters, should be twins. And like the Lesters, they are about the same size. They have to be listed together. Neither stops at 5:59. For them that is not enough. Both would rather go 8 than 6. They're like perpetual motion machines. Now on the mat for your entertainment pleasure, from FZW, the junior Brandon Weist and from OP, the junior, Shane Nay. And they are in the same weight class! How lucky for us. How unfortunate for one of them each year. As evenly matched as these two are, I can't imagine one dominating the other. You know what that means?

In at 152, the third Jag on the team, Justin Wolfrum. Like Bailey, not much more can be said about this guy. However, not in my memory has there been a guy quite as dangerous on top as Wolfrum. It was said the reason Sanguinet chose nuetral last year was to stay away from Justin's cradle. Like Askren of Missouri, he is always looking for it. (Askren however looks for it in the nuetral position or even on bottom.) I've seen Zach Bailey in it, which is quite a feat. And for a few moments Saturday it looked like it might do in Loccoco.

Which brings me to 160. The senior and two-time state finalist, from Francis Howell, Brandon Lococo. Is this guy slick or what? He already looks like a college wrestler. Taking on the toughest competition he can find, either at 152 or 160, he enters super districts undefeated. He doesn't run from tough competition, he runs to it. You got to love that. Don't blink while he's on the mat or you'll surely miss something.

And now for the big guys. Leading off at 171 the sophomore from OP, Brent "I'll break off your arm if you don't turn over" Haynes. If you don't know what is coming here, you haven't paid attention. Take em down, break em down and pin. No fluff, no dance, just doing a job. A lot of guys put the legs in to ride or stall. Not here. You're going to roll over or feel it in the morning. If I wore a hat it would go off to this pin machine.

I think we need a big brawler at 215. Someone who will make the most of what they got. So from Jackson, Kamden Rampley. Haven't seen the big guy as much as I would have liked. However I totally liked what I have seen.

I have a question about your selection of the Lester twin at 112. Did you forget about Donte Butler? The freshman maybe the best wrestler, but what has he done? I look at results, the freshman has none. He may well be truley special wrestler, but let's be understanding that next week will let the pretenders be found out.

RandyReversal

When you are shooting low singles, when you are working a Peterson, AND you are a 275 pounder, you have made the ALL REVERSAL TEAM. From Hannibal High, the future 285 pound TIGER, Tyler Perry. This guy does not know how big he is. He wrestles like a 130 pounder. Looking forward to watching this guy the next 5 years at ole Mizzou. And stepping right into the lineup next year.

RandyReversal

Hatch 13. What has he done? He has destroyed the competition like never before. I remember Schatzman as a freshman. I remember Barker as a sophomore. They weren't even close to what Nick has done. And I have not forgotten about Donte Butler at all. How could I. However, no one I have ever watched goes at it like this guy. In his first match in the Francis Howell Tournament he was taking the guy down and letting him up so fast that the officials missed a takedown and escape. Yeah! Get the video. He was credited with 3 takedowns and actually had 4. AND NOBODY EVER CAUGHT IT! Besides, if you look at the criteria for my picks, you will see that I am not going after the best at each weight. Just the ones I think "bring it" the best.

In a perfect draw, Butler draws Pierce in the semi's and Lester in the finals. I didn't witness the first tournament, but that kid is not Butler. Lester has all the tangibles to be great (Great team, perfect workout partner, tough competion, great coaches), but doing it in front of 8-10 thousand people is something else. If he is great, he will prove it to everyone in the crowd.

IMO being a TRIPLE CROWN NATIONAL CHAMP is already great.

Perry from Hannibal is certainly a fine looking big guy wrestler but he took a spanking from that big boy from Indiana at the Oakville Gateway Duals. I think Perry got beat something like 9 to 0 and that guy from Indiana was ranked something like 5th in the country. He was in total control of Perry throughout the entire match. I think he would have tech fall’ed Perry had he not been going for the fall and lost time. It was like watching a good college wrestler wrestling a good high school wrestler, a big gap existed.

RandyReversal

Totally uncalled for and classless post, Robo. With almost 40 posts and over 3000 hits you knew some dick was going to get on here and say something negative. The only question was "which dick would it be?"

The ART seem sends fourteen to state. One second and thirteen champions.
