Brady, is there any truth to the rumor that Wilson will be close to
breaking the wins in a season record? If so what is his record now?
If you are coming to district give us a call if need a place to crash....

Brady

Bruce,
To your question, yes Wilson has a chance of breaking the state record in wins. If it goes right he will have 49 wins going into state so that would put him at 54 if he wins it. I will give you guys a call if i need a place to stay. Thanks

Yeah, you never know what might happen. Last year Kent Eagleburger, LSW - came in 2nd at 140, and wasn't even ranked.

I made a mistake on my earlier post, Eagleburger came in 2nd behind Graham last year at 135 - it's a real shame he didn't make it thru. District 4 - 135 was fierce.

Heaton wrestled Eric Graham very tough. The score was 4-2, I believe. Heaton had a good defense that kept the score low.

I was thinking the same thing. Heaton definetly wrestled Graham very well which makes me think that if Graham has a bad match that he can be beaten. But the only person going to beat him is himself.

Everything else looks feasible and possible, if not likely.....but what were you smoking when you were picking 130?

Of course I'm just having fun here, but Compton won't beat Carr and it isn't very likely that Carper would beat Tripaldi.

189 is a long shot to get those results, too.

You are 100 % right! It was my upset match..If this is anything like the NCAA Office Pool, your going to have to pick a few upsets.

The Carper & Tripaldi match was hard to call, I should have gone to Ray-Pec. Their better coached.

Thanks for the good natured ribbing.

By the way Jonathan never posted what the 1st place prize was for the on line Predictions.

Oh, I wasn't smoking anything....I ran out of coffee.

Do you really think Knott (119) won't place?

I believe I have him placing 5th. But, it's not up to me, I'll be in the stands. It's all up to Mr. Knott, he controls his own fate.

I did put him down as an upset by the Nixa Kid. Those kids in Nixa are tough. Did you know they "Throw the Rolls" at each other in their resturants. You have to be mean to get something to eat down there.

If Mrs. Lambert can teach them to catch a Roll from across the room, State shouldn't be too scarey.

If Carr thinks Compton can't beat him he may have a long weekend. I'm not saying he will , but don't count him out.

Carr is a real wrestler and believe me ( had the talk with him) he will take this 1 match at at a time and is all about wrestling at state. No diversions. Tough one to beat.

Aaaaaaaand it's Sumner vs. Winckel for the 171 Championship!

I think Sumner can win this match IF he wrestles the best match he's ever wrestled in his life. If not, Winckel wins.

I want to pass on my congratulations to both Colin Pierce and Steve Grelle. They both were the better wrestlers and deserved to win. Like all sports, wrestling can both elevate athletes and humble them. Matt and Nick obviously have some things they need to work on before they can take the next step at State.

I want to thank all the Eureka coaches. They did a great job with my sons this year and also with the team. I also want to thank Nick Purler and Bonhomme wrestling, because without them the twins wouldn't have even made the trip.

Congratulations to all the wrestlers who competed this weekend. I think all of them were winners for just being there. Preparation for next year begins today.

State is a different world for Winckle this year!!! I have him on tape from round one of the 152 weight class last year. That loss forced him into a different wrestling zone and obvious frame of mind. He Buffed up and Blew Up!!! And now at 171 - so far it's been Winckle's World!!! He looked great - almost untouchable Friday night!!!! This kid is on a serious mission toward the top step this year and an example to other wrestlers of one way to come back from disappointment. It's Winckle Time!!!

I would like to congratulate Jake VonderBruegge for winning a silver medal last night. I believe this is the first time Hillsboro has won a medal at state.

I would also like to congratulate Tyler Gordon - class 2, 140 and Jimmy Pepper - class 4, 140 for fine performances as well. These are some of the finest kids out there.

I'll be watching for Jake and Tyler over the summer. Good luck to Jimmy - whatever school he chooses, he will definitely be an asset!
