The inexperience in the lower weights are killing the Vikes. I hope they improve over the summer.

Anyone know why Graham from Troy didn't wrestle. Really wanted to see him have heard alot about this kid. Was Troy just holding out because of districts? is he hurt ?
Thanks

He probably had trouble making weight. That happened vs FHC.

Thanks for the info. Have you seen the kid wrestle? I heard some people talking about him and was wanting to see him in action. I don't know if they were just talking him up or if they were for real. They didn't seem to think he could'nt beat Scotty O but would make the top 4 easily. I guess I'll get a chance to see him at State. Thanks again

Graham is a different cat. A lot of ability, but other things are in question. I will let someone close to Troy take this from here. I've heard rumors, but don't want to run with them.

My sources told me that Graham weighed in something like 12 lbs. too heavy and the coach kicked him off the team.

WOW what a shame. Wonder why the coach didn't move him up a weight class. The kid has got some wrestling ability from what I have heard. Was looking forward to seeing him wrestle at State. That sure is going to change things in District 3 seeding at 130. Thanks for the info.

If weighing in was the case this time, it means that he has been well over weight on more than one occassion. I am guessing the coach is trying to get the message across to the other wrestlers about discipline. Talented or not, letting a wrestler get away with that kind of laziness could destroy a wrestling room. If all this is factual, I commend the coach on taking a stand on this and making an obviously tough decision.

im not going to say that what kicking him off was wrong but i probally would have taken a different approach. i would have ran him and worked him so hard for several days maybe weeks untill he could make weight for at least 5 days in a row, then probally sat him a match or 2. whos to say that they didnt do about everything they could any way. tough choice.

it's the wrong time of year to waste time on that. Hopefully the last week was productive in that room and a few more wrestlers from the east can make a good showing in Jeff City/Columbia.

If making weight was the case. How come you have 1 of the Oechner boys who is repetedly over weight, while the other is hard core and will place well at state. The one that is over weight isn't being cut from the team or even made to run or work out extra hard. He is allowed to stay because his mommy and daddy run the booster club. Sounds a bit like favoritism to me. I know Graham has had a rough year and the coach probably did what he had to do for other reasons than the weight issue. Just my guess. It's too bad he was a shoe in to place pretty well at state I would have put him in the top 4 at state. Hopefully he will be back next year. Good luck to all the Trojans as they head to districts.

By the way Graham asked to wrestle a higher weight earlier iin the season. He got told he couldn't wrestle off for those positions because the parents of those kids were on the board of the booster club. Although he could most definately beat them the Coach didn't want to make the booster club mad. This is what I heard through the grape vine. So who actually runs the team the Booster club or the Coach???

Good luck to the Troy wrestlers this week-end in Jeff city, especially Brett and Brian Oechsner.
