You sure St Louis was from Monett? They were 1A-2A back then.....Ray Pec was 3A. What year did that happen....1988?

I have no idea what you are talking about! So many things are wrong with that statement. First, Matt Quest graduated from Ray-Pec in 1989.....along with me. Second, Monett and Ray-Pec were not in the same class, let alone the same sectional. Third, if Matt's only loss was at sectionals then he would have never made it to state since at that time sectionals was a win-and-your-in one match qualifying round. Since Matt was second at State in 1988 as a junior and state champ in 1989 as a senior and considering he wrestled J.V. his freshman and sophomore years, he never lost a sectional match. Fourth, the year that Matt only had one loss was his senior year and that came at the North Kansas City Tournament at the hands of a Raytown South wrestler.

As a side note, Matt would never say this so I'll say it for him - he, along with almost the entire team, was sick with a stomach virus or flu or something. He lost all his cookies in that Ray-South match and the mat had to be cleaned - yummy. Coach Barbarick couldn't even make it due to his illness so we had the J.V. coach attempt to lead the team. I was one of 3 or 4 guys who actually were not sick - I wish I was so then I'd have a good excuse for my MD loss to Pavlica (sp?) from Oak Grove.

One big one ...
2000
20-15 Steve Smith from Marquette upsetting 42-0 Clint Calton from Blue Springs...That cleared the way for OTT to win the title. Steve was losing by 4 with 20 seconds left and hit a throw to put Calton on his back. and win by 1..steve took 6th after people figured out to ride the 1st year wrestler and stay off of your feet.

2004 Quantarius Wilson Hazelwood East..you pick a match at state. He upset the whole field of ranked kids
