I've been out of the game for a while but what happened to starting at 103 and moving along from there? I've noticed that duals are starting at the middle weights for the most part and ending in the light weights. Any insight?

I think they are just changing things up a bit so there's not so much pressure on the heavys having to go last all the time.

Yes, a few years back they had said they would draw a weight out of a hat and start with that weight. NOt sure if that is what they still do but it keeps the 103 from always being first and the heavier wrestlers from having as much pressure on them in tight scoring duals.

They are right they are pulled prior to a dual. Of course as an old Hvy I liked the pressure of wrestling last.

...until that hat gave staph to the team.

The rule is called the "random draw" and it's design is to make the duals more interesting. Immediately following the weigh in at a dual meet, the draw is conducted. The first weight drawn is the the first match of the night and is the odd match, regardless of whether there is a match in that weight class. This rule has been around a few years and adds more interest to the dual...at least that was the hope from the national federation.
