I really get a charge out of district and state meets. Even when I didn't have kids, and lived in Columbia, I would go to the state meet each year. Now that I have kids, this is my favorite two weekends. Even though I have two girls, they are great fans. The oldest because she dated a wrestler in high school, the youngest because she is friends with so many of the guys on the team. My wife and I will drive 8 girls down from PC to Columbia, and they will crash in my sister-in-laws basement. One thing I will say about the kids from Platte County, they show great support for each other. I have had at least one daughter run the the state cross country the last three years, and lots of kids show up in Jeff City for that. Both daughters are/were cheerleaders, and lots of kids drive down to Columbia each year to support them in the state competition.. Except for this year, when the state competetion was the same day as the semifinal football game against Harrisonville. The girls didn't even get to hang around to collect their trophy, but had to beat feet to Harrisonville to make it in time for kickoff.

Feel free to make a comment. They are all great kids, but I must admit one of the girls coming with us had the stinkiest feet I have ever smelled. Last year she took her shoes off in the car on the way to Columbia, and it was all I could do to keep from gagging. I am doing to make sure she rides in the car my wife is driving. the 17 year old thinks she should be able to drive her car, but I am terrified on 1-70 anymore. I can't sleep when my oldest is driving from or to school in Columbia, I hate that road so bad.

I am staying at my mother in laws-the girls are staying at my sister-in-laws. At my age, I need my sleep, and they will get by on 3-4 hours of sleep each night. If they are not at the tournament they will either be at the mall or text messaging their friends all night.
