I wittnessed this prozac moment, another nut job parent :smt119 , as a coach myself I thought the refs call was 100% correct & it is her right to disagree even though shes probaly not even a coach, but to be a compete A$$ in front of her son & @ her clubs home tournamet [-X that was way out of line, what a real medical profesional! I hope that she knows how out of line she was & how bad her behavior was & was mature enough to apoligized to all parties involved mosts of all her son , the ref & the Fox wrestling club.

Helter,
You are quoting yourself.

There is also no reason to try to bring someones family into this issue. You can be upset, and you can dog her if you want, but I don't think we need to bring in other people not involved.

I don't know what happened, but I would like to thank Fox for a great tournament overall.

I enjoyed the tournament at Fox very much today. I'm sorry your day was not as good.

Unfortunately she was not mature enough to apoligize, & your right, I hope she did apoligize to her boy & the Fox wrestling, club, there coaches are some best & most respectful coaches any where they too deserve an apology from her.

If my children acted like that as an adult, I would fell like a complete failure as a parent. Some people are just born trailer trash weather they live in a trailer or not(not to disrecpect any one who lives in a trailer @ all because my family & I live in double wide on a foundation with a basement on 10 1/2 acres).

Just to add to this post, I think that the mentality displayed by the parent/coaches really needs to be addressed. I have had instances at the past two tournaments where coaches, were either unaware of the rules, or just not in a position to see the same things as the official and have said something ignorant to the point of them being ejected.

Yesterday I had to eject a parent because he felt his wrestler had his opponent pinned, but from his corner couldn't see that his son had both of his hands under the opponents shoulders. His wrestler finally removed his hands and I signaled the pin and raised his son's hand. At that point he started making a spectacle of himself raising his voice and going on and on about how I should have called the pin earlier and I was trying to cheat his son. At that point I ejected him from the event.

Not 5 minutes later I was walking in the hallway and had someone approach me saying "ref...ref" and I turned around and the first thing said to me was, "what do you have against my brother and our team, it was obvious that my nephew had that kid F**king stuck for 15 seconds before you called it". I asked him if from his spot in the stands, if he noticed that his nephew had his hands under the other kid's shoulders? Big shocker there, he hadn't seen that from where he was sitting.

There are a few valuable lessons to be learned from this....

1. As officials, we are out there to let the wrestlers wrestle and only get involved when we are brought in to a match to make sure the rules are being followed. We have no personal vendettas, we don't get paid more or less for whether or not one kid gets a pin and another one doesn't. We aren't out there to cheat your son/daughter/team out of anything.

2. Teach your wrestlers that they are going to lose from time to time in this sport and when they do.. it's because they got beat. It's not because the official "screwed" them out of anything. Win with pride and lose with dignity.

3. Have some respect for the officials.. Had the second individual approached me and simply asked if there was a reason I hadn't called the pin earlier in the match instead of approaching me like I had it out for his family, the conversation would have been short, to the point, and would be over and done with.

There is a great thread on this message board where a parent at a High School Tournament felt that the officials were favoring one team over another and another official, who deserves a lot more respect than I do, had a fantastic post on officiating, and if I had any more knowledge of this message board I would post a link to it, but if you do a search under Outlaw, you'll be able to see the post I'm talking about.

Good luck to all of the wrestlers next Sunday at State.. see you there.

It was a freakin' local little league tournament!!!!....Geeeezzz...The real purpose was to simply get mat time.
Give the refs a break!!!!!......Overly-emotional insulting parents and little league coaches run off a lot of
developing officials.....Who would want to put up with such abuse!!???
I can tell you that the least biased person out there is the official. He/she generally has a better knowledge
of the rules and a better viewpoint than anyone else. Disagreeing with an official's call is natural.
But, keep the criticism brief or bite your tongue. If it is an incorrect rule application, try to catch the official
at a later time when heads are cooler. Let the officials hear some praise after well-officiated matches.
We are running off a lot of young refs.....Just my opinion.....

Well said Oxman =D> as an official still young in my career (just completed my 5th season as a referee) we do this because we love this sport. Most of my fellow officials I've only known for arround 5 short years some of them I've known most of my life & all of them are outstanding individuals & would do anything we could possible for this great sport! I've read on here how some officials are made fun of & complained about & I'm sure most of it is all in good fun & thats fine thats comes with putting on the stripes, is to be scrutinize when a close call does not go the way a fan or coach wants , officiatiang is alot harder than it looks & we are out there giving it are all just like the two athletes out there. Belive me we officials love this sport just as much as the coaches, fans & the wrestlers do, its not about the money @ all, its being able to give something back to our sport that has done so much for us. Not a single officiail would never ever screw a wrestler out of anything Intensionialy because we know how hard these kid work to get where there @ & to screw a wrestler over should be a crime.

See you on the mat

Jim W.

THIS TRUELY IS THE GREATEST SPORT ON THIS PLANET!!!!!!!

Was she kicked out? I did not see her the rest of the day, or did she go to the other gym?

Was she kicked out? I did not see her the rest of the day, or did she go to the other gym?

Yes she was, the tournament director apoligized on be half of the Fox club but he had no reason to. After some discussion with the head official, I had a change of heart #-o & decided to let the nurse stay. The tournamet director & head official asked her to apoligize, but it never happened apparantley she thought her behavior was justified? The Fox coaches & I started to discuss the call thats when she opened her mouth & drew all attention away from our meeting ruining any chance of possiably over turning the call if there was a chance that will never be seen now which would've put the match in O.T., because she interupeted the coaches meeting with me & the coaches & ruining it for her boy! Oh yea they made her & the other trainer switch gyms.
