Do you think that coaches should bump wrestlers in order to win duals??

YES!!!! There are many reasons to bump and the most important one is to position your team for a win. What would be your arguement against this??

It looks like Belton tried this last night against Ray-Pec. 10th ranked 160 pound Benson bumped up to avoid Burke and wrestled Trunell (171 JV at the start of the season and is now varsity because Rosenstengle dropped to 152). It backfired when Trunell won in OT.

Maybe it backfired, maybe it didn't. #1 ranked Burke may have beaten him by more than a regular decision. So even though Benson took the loss, he may still have saved team points.

Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't. Was Belton's regular 171 out?

Burke got 6 points for a bye. Trunell got 3 for the decision. 9 total team points. If both Benson and the regular 171 lb wrestle at their own weights and both lose by fall, then they lose 12 team points. So, DScott, you could be correct - it may have saved them team points - it would depend on how each wrestler did in their match.
I don't know if the normal 171 lb Belton kid was out or just got bumped for the line-up change.
For the record, I am not against line-up changes at mat-side, I was just stating an observation from last night's dual. The Belton coaches may have had this planned all along - I don't know and it doesn't matter. I guess my first post in this thread sounded opinionated.....that's because it was - I am a Ray-Pec fan. However, I meant no disrespect to Benson or Belton.

I was at this dual and I think that it is crap that maysville bumped everyone all around, whitsell should have gotten a matchup against riley and maysville bumped their 171 up to 189 just to take a forfeit when he could have wrestled our 171, what is the name of maysvilles head coach?
So, this is the reason for this thread.

Should football coaches call plays or defensives that give them the best match ups?
Stop complaining and toughen up your lineup so people can't bump up and beat you.

No bumping of lineups!!!!!...It is like cheating!!!!
Same for changing your batting order in baseball..
Or, blitzing in football...
Unless it is done way in advance and the opposing coach agrees, no strategy should be allowed in any sport...

Now I know, RP is a lawyer that represents politicians. I finally got it!!
A coach should do whatever it takes to win a DUAL!! If he is interested in having a winning dual season. Some coaches just want to get some good matches for their wrestlers at duals so they are prepared for state. They match them up for duals and then let them wrestle where they are suppose to be for tournaments since they are looking for the team win and individual award there. I just say, let the coach do whatever he thinks is best for the team.

Coaches should be able to use strategy for match-ups, sometimes both coaches do changes as the last minute.
Sometimes it's not even about which guy would pin the other. If you have a wrestler that is in learning mode, you don't want him to go against a well seasoned wrestler because most likely he will get hurt - as in injury. If the other coach changes at the last minute to make it the match up then the wise coach will walk over and just foreit to keep his wrestler safe.
There is nothing wrong with it, it's a game plan

Only if you are wrestling Clinton and then it should be no holds barred. I heard the coach down there is a shady character and would do anything to win a dual. Move kid around, borrow one from neighboring school district, anything and everthing it takes to win. This maybe so, but the trophy is coming home with me.
