Rankings are an approximate average from Wrestling Report, WIN, AWN, Intermat, and Wrestling Mall. This dual has quite a few potential close matches and matches with seeding significance for the conference tournamentl. Below are my own only "slightly" biased predictions.

125 #18 Austin DeVoe (Missouri) vs #9 Paul Donahoe (Nebraska)

Although not as skilled as Coleman Scott, Donahoe is still too slick for DeVoe. If Austin can keep this one close and have a chance to win it in the third period, I think that would help his confidence level over the last portion of the season. Donahoe by DEC 3-0 Nebraska

133 #18 Tyler McCormick (Missouri) vs #19 Patrick Aleksanyan (Nebraska)

This is an important match in terms of Big XII seeding. When I saw Aleksanyan at National Duals he looked good. But whenever I’ve seen Tyler he has also looked good. On paper this one is a toss-up. So I’m going with a homer pick: McCormick by DEC. Team scores tied 3-3

141 #20 Chris McCormick (Missouri) vs #18 Dominick Moyer (Nebraska)

This is another important match in terms of Big XII seeding. From what I’ve seen of these two, Moyer has looked better than Chris. Moyer by DEC: 6-3 Neb

149 #18 Josh Wagner (Missouri) vs Ryan Davis (Nebraska)

I love Josh Wagner’s go-for-broke style. With it, he has a chance to upset some higher ranked wrestlers; but he may also drop some to lower ranked wrestlers. Davis is still trying to find himself at his new home. Wagner by DEC: Team score 6-6

157 Michael Chandler (Missouri) vs #16 Chris Oliver (Nebraska)

Michael Chandler has looked good at times, but has been handled by more experienced wrestlers (which Oliver is not). Oliver has had some big wins. Oliver by DEC. 9-6 Nebraska

165 #4 Matt Pell (Missouri) vs #14 Marc Harwood (Nebraska)

When I saw Harwood at National Duals, he had a methodical approach. What I remember, is that he didn’t let Hendricks to get to him (as Pell did the other night). Nonetheless, Pell’s overall ability should allow him to win fairly easily. So Pell by DEC. Team score knotted at 9-9. Note that Harwood did not wrestle the other night. If Nebraska uses a back-up against Pell, look for bonus points for Missouri

174 #1 Ben Askren (Missouri) vs #3 Jacob Klein (Nebraska)

Klein was an AA two years ago and has developed into a very good wrestler (though I have to admit to never having watched him very carefully). His win over Mark “I’m hot stuff” Perry was impressive. Unfortunately for Klein, this probably only means that he might avoid being pinned by Askren. Askren by MAJ DEC. 13-9 Missouri

184 #15 Raymond Jordan (Missouri) vs #11 Vince Jones (Nebraska)

Vince Jones came out of redshirt at the National Duals and beat several highly ranked opponents and had initial placements high on all national rankings. Meanwhile, Raymond Jordan has methodically put together a very solid season, beating most ranked opponents he’s faced, while losing to a few of them. Although the rankings favor Jones, I’m going with Raymond and his full season of varsity experience. Jordan by DEC. Missouri 16-9

197 Jeff Foust or Joe Garrity (Missouri) vs # BJ Padden (Nebraska)

Will Jeff Foust wrestle? If he does, will he be rusty or the Foust that won the Big XII two years ago? Most likely he would be rusty. The undersized Garrity began the season game for the challenge of filling in for Foust, but lately he’s really taken his lumps. If Foust wrestles, then Padden wins by DEC. If Garrity, then Nebraska gets a fall. I’ll split the difference and give Padden a win by MAJ DEC. Missouri 16-13

285 Sean Connole (Missouri) vs #20 Jon May (Nebraska)

This is a battle between a barely ranked May and an unranked Connole. Connole showed moxie earlier in the season, but lately has really taken his lumps. Hopefully he can hold this to a DEC. May by DEC. Team score knotted at 16-16

I’ll admit that in my picks I’ve probably given an edge to Missouri. Thus, in reality things will probably go more Nebraska’s way. Then factor in that the dual is in Lincoln, so it looks like Nebraska will win by a bit.

Please feel free to chime in with comments, disagreements, and your own predictions.

Can someone post what day and what time this dual is. I heard on last weeks CSTV telecast that this dual would be part of a double header with a Minnesota dual.

Nebraska-Missouri match to be webcast for free on Huskers.com, not to be broadcast on CSTV

DATE: 1/27/2006 12:09:00 AM
The University of Nebraska has informed InterMat that College Sports Television Network will not be broadcasting the Missouri vs. Nebraska match on Sunday, Jan. 29 at 2 p.m. Central Time.

The match, instead, will be carried via webcast for free at Huskers.com.

Alright, Cornhuskers! I wish all Division I programs would do this.

Northco,

I guess you didn't hear that Nebraska took THIRD at national duals, fighting Ok State tooth and nails. They also just beat Michigan for the second time. Missouri took 8th at National Duals.

Apparently you think that a different Nebraska team will show up to wrestle our Tigers.

No, I Know, BUt I also know that Missouri matches up with Nebraska Well. Frishkorn was in a funk against Moyer and Got caught on his back twice.
also have you seen frishkorn in the lineup since the National Duals...NO, so Ibelieve something is wrong.

I also Know what has happened in the past wihen These kids wrestle each other...I feell Nebraska is favored @ 125,149,157,197,285 (But I do think Mizzou could win at two of those weights.

I think Mizzou is better at 133,141,165,174, (But I think Nebraska could win 1 one of those weights)
184 is the toss up But I would also put 125,141,and 149 as tossups.
But then again they are in Lincoln.

Northco did you watch OSU and Minnesota. I think Fishkorn is in the dog house after that loss. He laid on the bottom the last period and didn't move. i guess he could sick???? By the way I was impressed by Ethan Kyle as a 141. He is sarting to fill out.

You guys are being silly to think that John Smith is holding out Frishkorn as punishment for losing a match (or two). Smith is going to put out his best team, and unless Kyle can now beat Frishkorn, Frishkorn is out for a reason. I'm guessing the reason had to do with what happened at National Duals: he was physcially mauled in those matches with Moyer and Rivera. In one of them-- I can't remember which, but I think the match with Moyer-- he was bent into a very odd position fighting off getting turned while in a cradle. His leg at the hip joint was getting bent in an unnatural direction. The ref stopped the action when Frishkorn yelled out. So it is just my guess, but I think Frishkorn is out due to being beat up bent like a pretzel.. of course losing was just salt on his wounds

Re Kyle-- I was surprised by how big he is now. I'm gladding he is getting to start some matches.
