Mr. Warner
i believe that the teams from last year are going to be the same teams this year. the teams from last year were Pool A FHC, Hannibal, Neosho, and Parkway West. Pool B was Howell, FZW, McClure North, and Eureka. Not sure if Hannibal's in it this year or not since they dont have a schedule posted.

Same Teams as last year plus Vianney and Eureka. I'm not sure what the pools will be. I will let you know when I find out. Man, you go out of town for a few days and the message boards get interesting!

Eureka as Francis howell north tourney on there schedule, not fhc. Plus, they are in the howell north discussion. Does any one from Eureka know the answer to that?
Eureka is in both tournaments. The Francis Howell Central Tournament is on February 4th.

Greg, my mistake, im sorry i just assumed that they were both this weekend. thanks for un-confusing me
Randy I just noticed there were only four teams in the silver pool. I know you told me at SCW, but is the format for this tournament basically the same as FHN i.e. wrestle everyone in your pool, and then the winner/2nd place/3rd place (depending on finish in pool wrestling) etc. wrestler from the other pool?

Can someone please re-list the pools and time schedule again??
An earlier post shows 5 teams in the blue pool and only 4 teams in the silver pool.
Me, Father Joe and Cooner are coming over for this tournament and we need to know what the tournament schedule is...

If Lococo goes 152 then he will see Wolfrum in his pool. the winner of that will most likely wrestle Andrew Wood in the finals.
If Lococ goes 160 he will wrestle Donald Woods in his pool. the winner of that will wrestle Tracy or St. Louis from Neosho.
Either weight he goes, it should be some good matchups. I for one would really like to see how he would stack up to Wolfrum, I think he wins 6-5.

Someone help me out here. . .why would Lococco drop to 152 to chase Wolfrum when he has a chance to wrestle a new face and #2 Donald Woods at 160? As far as I know these two have not went head to head except maybe at Purler. . .Maybe he/coaches think Woods might be too much to handle?

I think you're right though...Woods would be too much to handle for Brandon so he's gonna run from Woods to wrestle a 2 time state champion.

No, really. . .he already know where he stands with Wolfrum why not see where he stands with Woods and see where his best chance is to stand on the top of the stand instead of the side. . .

First of all let me state that I have no idea IF Lococo is dropping to meet Wolfrum - I don't know him, his dad, his coach, or anyone on his team. But I can tell you in general terms WHY somebody would do that. Wolfrum is nationally ranked and regarded as one of Missouri's finest. Woods is a great wrestler but not nationally ranked and only those who closely follow wrestling are aware of who he is. The match against Wolfrum is the type of match that might attract the interest of casual fans - not just the dedicated wrestling junkies that post on this site. A win over Wolfrum would put Lococo's name in the national spot light and perhaps raise his stock for college recruiters. It has nothing to do with dodging Woods and everything to do with chasing the young man who is perceived to be the better wrestler.
The Godfather
02-01-2006, 08:02 AM
How does he already know where he stands with Wolfrum??
You think maybe he would want to test his skills since they haven't wrestled in a few years?
Who knows where Lococo will be this weekend anyway...we'll just have to wait and find out.
As long as both Wolfrum and Woods come to wrestle, it really doesn't matter where Brandon will be...

Good points, RP. Just wanted to point out that Brandon signed with Lindenwood already, so raising his stock really doesn't matter. I think, if he decided to drop, it would be to have a great match with a great opponent, and to see where he really stands.

152: Coco over Bader Fall...
3rd Wolfrum over Wood WBF...Wood looked rusty...Coco over wolfrum 2-0 in pool..difference was a 1st period td
160: Woods over Tracy 8-5 Tracy had a few real slick shots, got in deep but Woods muscled his way out...that kid is strong
I imagine burns took 3rd he wrestled Real tough against Woods..score was 13-11 and there was a questionable no TD call in the 1st which would have made the score tied
171: White WBF ??
3rd: St. Louis over Sumner...not sure on the score....Sumner was out of it the whole tournament...Looked lost
189: really dont remember
215: Balch (howell) over Hannibal kid
3rd I think Zimmerman
275: Crosset over Perry 4-2 OT...Best heavy match ive ever seen
3rd Nick Clark over Howell Central kid...not their normal 275
some notes...A couple teams did not have their full lineups most likely to rest some minor injuries so close to districts
FHC was without 145: Diekhaus, 130: Kelly, 171: Beard, 189: Dill, and 275
West was without Warner...he was walking around in street clothes looked fine coach prolly just didnt want to risk anything

Justamom,
I worked the tables at the tournament. at 125 it was Bolin over Rodgers. McCluer North and Eureka were in the same pool. at 119 and 112 it was Parkway West vs. the lester twins. at 152, Andrew Wood of Hannibal took 4th place. at 160, Donald Woods of McCluer North took 1st place.

I should have went, damn it. LOL but, since I haven't had a weekend home in months, I thought I should catch up on my domestic duties. :toimonster: Since I was going to miss the action, I made everyone suffer along with me. He got in a hell of a work out with me though.

Great tournament, not too many surprises other than Crossett over Perry. I guess that explains all the whining on The Godfather's part. Good show again for Eddie. Just goes to show you anything can happen. Classy act for Lococo to go after it and get it. Congrats to all.
Eddie lost...
unless by anything you mean a close match because that was a great match
forgot to mention this but Eddie locked up a funky cradle in the 3rd and I thought for a minute that he was going to stick him it was getting pretty close but Bolin rolled out and Rodgers only got 2 out of it

I'm not one to say I told you so, but... :D
Sounds like some great matches today. I was there for about an hour or so and had to leave due to prior commitments, but a few notes from what I did see.
Kyle Bradley, as always, was very impressive.
The Lesters are slick. I saw probably the nicest inside single that I have seen in a long time from the 119 Lester. Right after that match, the 112 Lester was wrestling on another mat and was taking his opponent down at will. Just awesome.
Ben Balch looked good against FZW. He just kept cranking the power half...that kid is strong.
Perry from Hannibal is a stud...he about ate the FHC kid alive in the match that I saw.
That was about it...sounds like a great ending. Wish I could have stayed to see it. :(

I was at the tournament all day.
I rolled in at 9am and the only paper work they had was a yellow sheet of paper with the school rosters printed on it. That's it. I had no idea who/how/when anyone was wrestling. By the time the wrestlers were done shifting weight classes that piece of shait, I mean paper, was useless. The yellow sheet didn't even *remind* us what teams were in what pool.. I tried to steel the *bracket* sheets that were posted in the hallway and almost got kicked out of the place. Very poor organization....
I loved watching the 171lber from Eureka stomp off after getting planted in the first pool round.
Question of the tournament...
How many Rallos does it take to *review* a boundry takedown by Woods of MN?
Answer in a minute.

How many Rallos does it take to *review* a boundry takedown by Woods of MN?
Three. Charlie, Nicky and Nick.
It was a classic monent for Mo. High School wrestling. The MN guys had this video camera that had to be 50 years old. All there zebras were trying to watch a repaly of a takedown while peering into this little bity eye-piece. It unfolded right in front of me....and I didn't even say a word....

Mr. Clown,
Thanks for coming out and watching the wrestling on Saturday. This being the second year for this tournament we are always looking for ways to make it more fan friendly and your suggestion of making brackets available would have been beneficial for following the rounds and we will try to do that next year. After official weigh-ins the tournament director then entered all the information in the computer that then set the matches and rounds for each pool so the information wasn't available until wrestling started. I even missed one of my own kids matches. We also initial were going to run one pool on mat 1 and 2 and the other on 3 and 4 but the decision was made to use the first available to help speed things up. As for the medal matches we tweaked that from last year from going the first available to still running all four mats, but only doing two weight classes at a time. Do you think it would have been better to run one weight class at a time and only use two mats? Doing that may make for a longer day, but alot easier to keep track of what is going on. 152 and 160 was particulary difficult to watch with Wolfrum-A. Wood, Lococo-Bader, and Tracy-Wood all wrestling at the same time!

Some of the great matches of the day:
T. Bolin over Steyer in a good early round match.
Lococo and Wolfrum was great wrestling by both competitors.
Grimes (FHC) coming back in the third and sending the match into overtime with A. Wood from Hannibal. Grimes wins it with a takedown in OT.
Tracy and Woods had a very physical match
Balch and the Hannibal 215 in the finals. Both those guys are strong!
Crossett and Perry in a battle of the big boys!
Rogers and Bolin again have a back and forth match, fun to watch!

I thought the tournament went along very well. Like most late season tournaments there is a big problem w/ opens, what is with Parkway West only bringing 6 kids? The only way to eliminate them is to get more teams. I was very glad to see 10 teams over 8 from last year. This is a very tough tournament with the current teams. You guys have done a nice job of creating a great tournament and I'm sure it will only get better. Someday maybe the concession stand and hospitality room can match the Thrasher!

I loved the talent level and the way the tournament was run. I just needed printed brackets so I could better follow the thing!
I liked two groups of finals running at the same time, but can you do 103 and 112, then 119 and 125, then ....
Can you please start the tournament at 9am next year. We could be in the bar by 5pm!

They wrestled 103 and 119 together, then 112 and 125 because one of the schools only had one coach there and would have had two kids wrestling at the same time in the medal matches. It confused me also especially when one of the Lester twins was in both weights. I wasn't sure who was who for a minute!

Obnoxio I see your love of "Eureka" is still as strong as ever LOL. I can't argue about your comment about Matt, he does still look like a little kid. It is hard to believe, and very scary, to think he will be driving in under six months.

Greg, I really dig watching your kids wrestle. They're special.
I have a tiny flutter of love festering for the norfwest kittens so I need another southern STL team to dislike to create balance in my life...You-Reek-A balances me.
I was sitting on top of the "half" bleachers on the end over looking the mat that was not part of the three main mats. Mat 4 I think it was? It was where all the zoomwalt west cat fans were sitting. Now them west fans are a mean bunch...
I was keeping a low profile Saturday since Dr. Dill was looking for people to mop the mats and I knew the local media was going to be there to film the mat cleaning process,,,,I just didn't want to be on T.V...
