I noticed on your weight brackets that they differ some what from the AAU Wrestling website. The website is more uniformed: 130-140-150, where yours are: Novice for example 132-148 so on.

A number of years ago (??) when National changed their weight classes, the coaches in the AAU Ozark Association voted to keep the weight classes that we presently have. One reason is that with the increased number of the new weight classes that National proposed, it was thought that a competitive number of entries within each weight class could not be achieved. Although, since we have grown in numbers, we should probably do a comparison of our weight classes against the National weight classes to see which would work best for us.

I just noticed that I forgot to include the link to the previous Ozark tournament results.

Matt:

Silly question I know but have they confirmed a site for AAU state yet? I've heard Lafayette but can't imagine a tournament that large being held there.

Is the correct address for the school Ballwin, MO?

MatAttack
01-02-2009, 02:58 PM
The Rockwood school district consists of four different high schools (Eureka, Marquette, Lafayette, and Summit). Lafayette, where AAU state will be held, has a Ballwin address. However, the gold division of the Ozark Tournament will be held at Summit High School in Fenton. The addresses follow.

Gold Wrestlers (1st year only) will wrestle at: Rockwood Summit High School, 1780 Hawkins Road, Fenton, MO 63026

Blue Wrestlers will wrestle at: Lindbergh High School, 4900 South Lindbergh Blvd, St Louis, MO 63126

Due to a recent ice storm in St Louis closing schools and wrestling practices, we are extending the sign deadline until Friday at 5pm.

After your roster is submitted, please have your coaches and parents double check the data entry on our website, http://www.rlwrestling.com. Click on Ozark.

Also, many new wrestling parents and wrestlers may not appreciate how bout numbers work and how they help make a tournament run more smoothly. If you would help them understand how bout numbers work that would be appreciated.

Novice Blue 65 Bracket

Based on last year results, pairing up Eckman/Oliver and Freebersyser/Durbin does not make sense. One of these 4 will be eliminated by the 2nd match because the losers are matched up against each other. All four of these wrestlers should have been matched up against a non state finisher from last year. How are these brackets determined?

I was wondering the same thing. Several brackets make no sense to me regarding the seeds.

How are the weigh-ins at AAU tournaments? Is there a time period to check weight on the official scales? Can they step on the scale more than once?

RLDad
01-16-2009, 04:42 PM
Ozark weigh ins are open until scales close, multiple attempts are ok .

Brackets are seeded by the information submitted by their coaches; we can only rely on this information.

Our hands get tied to this method, it is not a perfect system but it is all we have.

Matt, Matt, and all of the RL team,

Great job on posting the brackets and and the historical data. If the sites are this organized this is going to be a great tournament. I will be at the gold site and my wife will be at the blue site with my grandson. If you guys need anything from clocks to flip-a-scores or whistles, let me know and we will help out. On the day of the tournament let me know if you need help, and our team will give you a hand.

Thanks for a great job so far and good luck this weekend.

This tournament was as smooth as can be. The entire staff did a great job and I must commend the coaches and fellow officials for getting along just great. I know that the side of the gym that I worked there were No major issues. Thanks to the clubs that were responsible for this great event. It was great working with the "innocent" kids again.
