Killgore, Bertucci lead charge for Mules at Roger Denker Open



Senior Wade Killgore and sophomore Vince Bertucci each took second place in their divisions this past Saturday. They were two of seven Central Missouri State University Mule wrestlers who placed in the meet.

Killgore went 2-1 on the day, as he got decisions over Jesse Coale of McKendree Collge (7-1) and Bryan Gaskill of Missouri Valley (10-3) before falling to Kyle Terry of Oklahoma (6-5).

Bertucci won his first three matches of the day. He pinned Adan Gutic of Lindenwood in 1:56 and then scored a 5-3 decision over Oklahoma’s Chris DeVilbiss. Bertucci then knocked off Missouri’s Andrew Sherry in an overtime match 14-12. In the finals Bertucci was not able to overcome Lindenwood’s Mike Rio as he fell by a major decision (16-6).

Freshman Grant Baker (133) finished third, while sophomore Caleb Dixon (125) and freshman Keaton Baker (133) both finished fourth and sophomores Travis Barbarick (165) and Jesse Sheets (174) each came away with a fifth place finish.

125 Pounds

Seth Norman lost by major decision (21-8) to Mike Aitch of Missouri Baptist, lost by major decision (9-0) to Gary Brooks of Missouri Baptist – finished 0-2.

Cory B loodgood won by technical fall ( in 4:19) over Tyler Webster McKendree College, lost by major decision (19-8) to Jonathan Lloyd of Lindenwood, won by decision (11-5) over Kris Greene of Lindenwood, lost by decision (3-1) to Caleb Dixon – finished 2-2

Byron Clark lost by forfeit to Tommy Edgmon of Neosho Community College, lost by forfeit to Kris Greene of Lindenwood – finished 0-2.

Lance Craig won by decision (11-10) in overtime over Kris Greene of Lindewood, lost by decision (8-4) to Tommy Edgemon of Neosho Community College, lost by decision (6-2) to Tyler Webster of McKendree College – finished 1-2.

Caleb Dixon lost by decision (1-0) to Gary Brooks of Missouri Baptist, won by major decision (15-7) over Danny Morreale of Lindenwood, won by fall (in 3:53) over Mike Aich of Missouri Baptist, won by decision (3-1) over Cory Bloodgood, won by decision (2-1) over Tommy Edgmon of Neosho County Community College, lost by decision (1-0) to Gary Brooks of Missouri Baptist – finished 4-2 and 4th place

No Hansen? No Cooper? No Paskalev? No Moore or Haynes? Are they injured or just resting? Should we expect to see them in the Dual Jamboree this weekend?

We should be at full strenghth this week end. Some of these guys have a ton of matches at this point in the season and needed a rest, others have nagging injuries that needed rest. We felt like it was time to get healthy for the push at the end of the season.
