Are the fights in Maryville sanctioned by the ISCF or anyone else?
I don't think you would see a guy have two fights in one night at an event that is sanctioned, just doesn't sound right.

I don't have an opinion one way or another on whether he should or shouldn't fight two fights. Just don't think any sanctioning body that is on the up and up would approve it.

IM GLAD TO HEAR ALL YOU TALKING ABOUT OUR SHOW I APPRECIATE IT! HOWEVER I DID SEE THE QUESTION ARE WE SANCTIONED YES WE ARE SANCTIONED LISCENCED INSURED ALL THE ABOVE. NOT ONLY THAT WE HAVE AMBULANCE, DOCTOR, TWO FULL REGISTERED NURSES AT OUR SHOW. ABOVE THAT WE REQUIRE ARE FIGHTERS TO HAVE THEIR BLOODWORK DONE. I DON'T BELIEVE ANY OTHER AMATURE SHOW AROUND HAS TO HAVE THAT. IT KIND OF UPSET ME IN THE WAY IT WAS SAID LIKE A SANCTIONING BODY WOULDNT ALLOW THIS. NICK WON IN LIKE THE FIRST MIN I BELIEVE IN HIS FIRST FIGHT HE WAS LOOKED OVER AGAIN AND DOC HAD NO PROB WITH HIM FIGHTING AGAIN. WE ARE SANCTIONED THROUGH KICK INTERNATIONAL INC. IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS OR FUTURE QUESTIONS ABOUT US FEEL FREE TO GO TO OUR WEBSIGHT. http://WWW.NORTHWESTFIGHTCLUB.COM I WILL ANSWER THEM DON'T MAKE ASSUMPTIONS ABOUT US. WE ARE FAR FROM YOUR UNORGANIZED SHOWS WE GO ABOVE AND BEYOND ANY OTHER SHOW AROUND TO LOOK OUT FOR THE SAFETY OF OUR FIGHTERS THAT IS OUR #1 PRIORITY. IF YOU REMEMBER THE FIRST MMA MATCHES UFC?? THOSE GUYS FOUGHT SOMETIMES UP TO 3 OR 4 TIMES IN ONE NIGHT. IM NOT TRYING TO UPSET ANYBODY JUST GETTING POINT ACROSS.

"Brain",
First off, LEARN HOW TO TAKE OFF THE CAPS KEY.
Second, do you not agree that it is highly unusual for an amateur MMA fighter to fight twice in one show? To avoid questions when you "advertise" your shows on here, you should include who sanctions your shows.
Fact of the matter is, I have a son who fights in mostly ISCF shows and I would be very upset if they let him or anyone else fight in two fights in one night. In my opinion, this is not a wise decision and not made for fighter's benefit. [-X What does it prove?
A sanctioning body who is concerned about the health and safety of their fighters should not let this happen, ever!
Disclaimer: All of the above assumptions are made by me and no one else and should not be viewed as anything other than my opinion

YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT SAFETY OF FIGHTERS DO THE SHOWS YOU GO TO REQUIRE YOUR SON TO HAVE HIS BLOODWORK DONE? HOW ABOUT HIS OPONENTS? DO THEY HAVE AN AMBULANCE? DO THEY HAVE A DOCTOR TWO FULL REGISTERED NURSES AT THERE SHOW? IF YOU WOULD OF READ WHAT I WROTE WE ARE SANCTIONED THROUGH KICK INTERNATIONAL INC. YEA THAT IS YOUR OPINION AND YOU CAN HAVE YOUR OPINION. I KNOW FOR A FACT YOU ARE NOT REQUIRED TO HAVE YOUR BLOODWORK DONE IN ISCF SHOWS. TELL ME IS HIV HEP A,B,AND C SPREAD THROUGH BLOOD? AT OUR FIRST SHOW A KID GOT CUT AND BLOOD WENT INTO THE OPONENTS MOUTH. GUESS WHAT WE KNOW FOR A FACT THEY ARE BOTH SAFE BECAUSE WE HAVE ALL OUR FIGHTERS TESTED. NO OTHER AM SHOW REQUIRES IT BUT US.... SO TELL ME AGAIN HOW WE ARE'NT CONSIDERING THE SAFETY OF THE FIGHTERS WHEN WE GO ABOVE AND BEYOND EVERYONE ELSE. JUST MY OPINION AND FIGHTERS WHO LOVE TO FIGHT WITH A SHOW THAT CARES ABOUT THEM AND THERE FUTURE WITHOUT A DISEASE THAT COULD STAY WITH THEM FOR THERE LIFE.

Please answer the questions that I asked. (AND TAKE OFF THE CAPS KEY, PLEASE)
do you not agree that it is highly unusual for an amateur MMA fighter to fight twice in one show?
What does it prove?
The answers to your questions are:
Their is always a Doctor and EMT's and an ambulance at the shows.
Bloodwork is available on the ISCF website and I am sure it will be required soon if it isn't already.
I am curious as to why you are sanctioned by Kick Int'l instead of the ISCF, which seems to be the predominate sanctioning body for MMA nationwide?
Look "Brain" I am not dissing your shows, everything you are doing, as explained above, seems to be above board =D> . All I am saying is that in my opinion, letting an amateur fighter fight in two fights in one night, regardless of the circumstances, is not in the best interest of the fighter [-X and I don't think that a sanctioning body should allow it.
The fact is, there are a lot of "backyard" type shows out there because people figured out they can make a little money doing it and money, not safety, is the motivator.

northwestfightclub wrote DO THEY HAVE A DOCTOR TWO FULL REGISTERED NURSES AT THERE SHOW? What does this mean? Does this mean you fed them before the show. I hope so, because I'd hate to see a fighter get sub-standard treatment do to hunger.

Northwest Fight Club was established to bring an honest and respectful show to northwest Missouri. I have been to shows all around the area and some were good but others were bad. When I say bad I don't mean the quality of fights because I have a lot of respect for amateur fighters; I mean the promoters of some of these fights only care about making a few dollars and disregard the health of the young men fighting in their show.
The State of Missouri does not require amateur fighters to provide blood work before they compete in their first event which in my opinion is reckless disregard for someones health. On the other hand, NWFC requires all fighters to provide blood work before they fight because the health of the fighters is very important to us. Is our system perfect, no way, but we do try our best. We have come across a couple of incidents where if we didn't have this rule in effect someone with contaminated blood would have fought, that's scary! No one should have to suffer for the rest of their life because of cutting corners. That's my opinion.
We put our show together after months of planning because we want to have the best event in the area. This isn't a fly-by-night business, we are here to stay for as long as the fighters and fans want us around. We are sanctioned by Kick Int. because we felt that they were the best sanctioning body for our show and we have established a good relationship with them. I respect the ISCF but for us Kick was the best option.
Should someone fight twice in one night? Normally I don't do that because I feel that one fight is enough but Nick stepped up because a fighter backed out at the last minute. The Doc said he was good to go so I allowed it, that was a decision I made as a promoter, friend, and fan.
We provide a fun and safe environment for all, if you haven't been to one of our shows please check us out on Feb. 7th in Tarkio, MO. Sorry this was so long but I could see tension was getting high and I wanted to speak my peace. God Bless

bcaudill,
Thanks for the honest response. I agree with everything you are doing with the exception of allowing an amateur fighter, for any reason, to fight two fights in one night. It does nothing other than providing the show with one addtional fight. In this case 17 instead of 16. The fighter makes no money and does nothing but take on additional risk of injury to accomplish what? To prove that he can step up and is tough? [-X
If Kick Int'l has simiar rules to the ISCF the fighter that backed out has to pay the promoter "no show" fees, so the promoter loses nothing.
In my opinion because a fighter backed out does not justify this action and I still don't feel that it is in the best interest of the fighter or the sport of MMA. Actions like this point to the "backyard" mentality that sometimes occurs with "suspect" shows.
In my opinion the promoter, friend, and fan should make better decisions if he wants his shows to be viewed as a professionally run organization by other fans of the sport.
Just consider this as constructive criticism and just my opinion as a fan of the sport and the father of a MMA fighter. In addition there is no tension here, and I respect that you are trying to run a safe show, I was just stating my opinion.
Good luck with your future shows and consider your decisions carefully.
And thanks for TAKING THE CAPS LOCK OFF

I will take the caps off. That is the first time I've been told about my mistakes in writing since college. lol
Is it unusual for a fighter to fight twice in one night. Yes and no, I've seen it in Omaha and I have seen it in the first UFC's. No because we hav'nt done it before it was a game time decision. Did we make the right decision depends who you are I guess. Will we let it happen again probablly no. We did'nt do it for the money or to have more fights we did it for the fighter who drove all the way from K.C to fight. It was'nt for money were not greedy. I'm sorry I got upset and I understand your point. We are still in our developing stage and we will make mistakes. However it is our responsibility to not make them again and to learn from them. Hope to have no hard feelings. I appreciate your comments and it is people like you who will help us with your opinions and comments. Thanks again.

Good arguements on both sides! If you ask me if I drove almost 2 hours for a fight that i won in the first min and a half.. and i'd sustained no injuries and didnt even feel tired.. ya id volunteer to fight a 2nd fight that night if the doc said i was good to go.. why not? that other guy probly had been training also.. and at the last min his opponent didnt show up? i'm sure he was greatful to get to fight rather then drive up for nothing, this is amatures. and if the doc says they are both perfectly healthy, and both fighters want to fight i really dont see a problem

Stillman,
I respect constructive criticism, it helps us grow and to see where we may be weak in an area.
Kick Int. doesn't have a "no show" fee and in my opinion that is a bad rule for amateur fighters. Like you said earlier, these guys don't get paid for their performances and if they are first time fighters they have to pay a licensing fee. Most of them have full time jobs and some have families, in both cases things come up and they may be unable to make the show. Why tax a guy who doesn't get paid for his performance in the first place? Remember, these guys are amateurs! There are those who back out of fights for other reasons, that's just one of those uncontrollables we will run into, so be it.
One question: you disagree with an amateur fighter fighting 2 times in one night ( which I do respect your opinion), but you agree with the rule by ISCF that if a fighter doesn't show for a fight he should pay a fee? To me this is about getting a guy some experience and having a good time; not worrying about getting taxed if you can't make the show.
That little bit of knowledge you informed me of tells me NWFC made the right decision in going with Kick.
God Bless

bcaudill,
I just said the ISCF had that rule, I didn't say I agreed with it or not. I know that they make exceptions for good reasons and will not charge fighters who have them and let them know ahead of time they can't make it.
I believe it is used to keep guys from doing no call/no show, which I do agree with. They have a lot of shows going on all the time so the no call/no show problem is probably a large one and why they have the rule.
I do like the fact that you guys try to have up to 20 fights in an evening. Sometimes these shows can go fast if you get a lot of first round submissions or TKO due to strikes.
Are your show non-smoking venues? Most of the ones I've been to have been but one of them was not and it was miserable.
"Brain",
No hard feelings, I really wasn't trying to make anyone upset, I just disagreed with the 2 fights in one night deal and said so. No one had mentioned anything about who sanctioned your fights so I was just wondering how it got approved.
TAKING THE CAPS OFF makes the posts much easier for these old eyes to read
Like I said it sounds like you guys are trying to do the right things and trying to put on a good show, mistakes will occur along the way. The only way to tell how good you are is if you pay attention and learn from them. #-o
Thanks for the lively discussion it's a lot of fun. 8)

Stillman,
Thank you for your honesty and the good discussion. You make a good point and believe me I do learn from my mistakes. I hope you will make it to one of our shows and see for yourself how well organized we are. Better yet, your son is more than welcome to come fight in one of our shows (providing he has his blood work done :D ). Thank You and God Bless

bcaudill,
If I am on that side of the state sometime I'll try to make one.
My son is making his pro debut Feb 7th, so he won't be doing any amateur fights anymore. Time to put the big boy pants on  He should do okay he's 5-0 and holds the Xtreme Cagefighting Middle weight amateur championship title.
Good luck with your shows and make good decisions for your fighters and your company. =D>
