I see a lot of good results from Randi, but I can't find her in many matches at all against ranked or honorable mentioned kids. Are these just not getting posted or has she wrestled almost exclusively unranked kids. I'm just curious because it's hard to find out her level.

I would say Randi. I have seen her wrestle in little league and my son watched her tear it up at the Mizzou camp, she only lost one match. She is one tough girl and i hope she sticks with it.
Good Luck Randi.

Steve is the man. He doesn't have inside information on the subject, but he has been coined with the nickname of "The Hawt One" so his insight would be invaluable. If you ever see him at a wrestling tournament, his ladyfriend is always there. He's a ladies man. 8)

Ok, now back to the real topic... who is Missouri's best lady wrestler?

Randi does have the advantage of being in Class 2 and facing less competition than Class 4, but she also has been kicking some major rear too. Who have her losses been to, and what were the scores?
Louden, if you want to get a first hand look she is in the MICDS tournament today and tomorrow. She will be tested with Steyer, Banning, Mango, Wehmer, Ream, Langdon and Hall.
I wonder of the people who have voted, how many have actually seen both Randi and Ashley wrestle? There will be a good comparison point this weekend as I believe Randi has the potential to wrestle Ryan Banning.

Lou,
Unfortunately, Langdon won't be at MICDS this weekend. We found out today that he has been wrestling the last two weeks with a fairly serious injury. He is shut down for at least two weeks and maybe for the season.

Greg, I've heard your opinion before, but to answer your question, Mr. Waterkotte has seen them both before and his opinion is the opposite of yours. This weekend will be a good test for Beltz, but unless she starts techfalling or dominating those top kids I don't think we'd be too much closer to answering that question. This poll is more of an opinion.

And also, socks (multiple usernames) can vote too. It's hard to get an accurate poll going.

I can't find any pic's of Randi in action, so post em if you got em. I found a couple of Ashley's:

St. Clair, that's off of highway 44 right? Maybe they don't use prepsports on stltoday.
I'm sorry to here that Jerry. I hope Ross gets well soon and back up to speed by districts. Will Candela be wrestling in his place?

Thanks Lou.
Yes, I believe Candela will be in the lineup.

This is a little like the rankings. I think Ashley has to get the nod right now because Randi has not had the opportunity to prove herself yet. Ashley has done very well and even won at state. We are extremely proud that Randi is an honorable mention on this board, but Ashley is a ranked wrestler and deserves it in my humble opionion.
This weekend will provide some answers. There are six ranked wrestlers in the 103 lb bracket. Maybe the picture will be clearer on Sunday.

I think she was pinned by Joey Newland wrestling at a 112 pound match, but many very good wrestlers get pinned by him.
Randi Tech-falled Rose of Sullivan in a 103 pound match. I believe that Rose was ranked 2nd or 3rd in class 2 at the time of the match. If you look at her results on the results page she has dominated most of her matches.
She was injured last week so she didn't wrestle in the Dual Tuesday night against Pacific. She would have wrestled Knott at 103.

One other thought. All of Randi's matches have been posted. Her loss was to Joey Newland. In that match she got spanked pretty good.

Hey if St. Clair isn't too far from Northwest... I hear the real estate in High Ridge/House Springs is really taking off!

I am a HUGE fan of Ms. Hudson, but i saw Ms. Beltz tear our 112 pounder a "new one" at Farmington.Ashley is a slow and methodical technician, and Randi is an aggressive animal !!!. I'll leave the "hawt" issue to the younger crowd...i'd give the wrestling nod to Randi if they went "head up".

I have seen Randi wrestle in little league and now in High School it doesn't look like she is slowing down. I couldn't see in her record that she wrestled any of the Knotts, but she did wrestle a ranked wrestler and beat him 17-0. I think that is pretty impressive. I went over her teams results and it looks she is 19-1, give or take one or two on the wins, but only one loss. I've also heard that Ashley did excellent last year, but was having difficulty this year. With sickness, or not making weight. So a comparison might not be fair this year. Both girls should be applauded for not only wrestling but working hard enough to be competitive.

Not to take away credit from Randi but it should be at least acknowledged that she is wrestling mostly Class 2 wrestlers, which aren't quite up to par with Class 4. In addition, St. Clair really doesn't have a strong schedule.
I am anxious to hear how she did this weekend because it is those results that interest me, not her wins against unranked kids.

Louden I don't think I expressed an opinion in my comment. The point of my post was that I think that some people may be voting for Ashley because she is the known quantity/known name. Randi until this poll has been somewhat under the radar.
I definitely respect Rick Waterkotte's opinion and am not going to say he is wrong. I think Randi may begin to answer some questions one way or the other this weekend.

I have the first days results for Randi. Not sure how the seeding works at this tournament, but Randi at 20-1 wrestled Matt Steyer who is currently ranked 4th in state (class 4) in the first round of a 16 man bracket. Anyway, Matt scored a last second takedown and won the match 6-4.
Randi was obviously heartbroken. Her next match was against Max Amon from Ladue. He forfeited. Something to do with being an Orthodox Jew.
We will keep you all posted.

What?!
Is that true? If so, I've never heard of such a thing. It's just a sport, whether it's a boy or a girl he's wrestling. I know I'm not being politically correct here, but I don't get that.

The wrestlers faith begins the sabath at sundown on friday night. Therefore had to leave the tournament. I was nothing to do with wrestling a girl. As far as the seeding goes, they only seed six. The individuals record is behand head to head or common oponents. She has an avenue to come back and take third. But, look at the bracket...very tough.

He cannot wrestle on Saturday? I am a little confused. Most matches including districts and state are on Saturday. How does one participate if he cannot wrestle Friday night or all day Saturday?

Randi finished 4th losing to wehmer of haz west in overtime in the 3rd place match. Only other loss was to steyer 6-4 in the first round. She didn't meet up with Mango or Banning. Banning was injured in the semis and didn't compete after that. I don't know if she's better than Hudson but she is very impressive nonetheless. Very physical style too.

I have seen both of these girls wrestle each other in the offseason and Ashley wins when they go live though it is not an easy match
I do however believe ashley is a jr while randi is a fr so give her some time and watch out!

I've seen both girls wrestle, and I think I will have to give it to Ashley - she's the more "seasoned" of the two. Randi is young, she'll have her day.

Couple of thoughts. St Clair schedule has consisted of mostly Class 3 and Class 4 schools. The comments that Randi is only facing class 2 competition is not accurate.
Second the one wrestler that both have faced was Matt Steyer. Ashley lost 6-3 and Randi lost 6-4. Sound pretty even. There may be other comparison but there is so little information coming out of Lafayette Wildwood that it is not possible for me to see anyother comparisons.
Has Ashley maybe ever wrestled against Hazelwood West?
Yes, Ashley beat Wehmer with a late takedown to win 5-4 at DeSmet Tourney, and Wehmer beat Randi in overtime 10-8 at MICDS. Chris thought Ashley scrambled a little better then Randi, but that just might be the case of how his style matched up with both young ladies. Either way both are very impressive and should do well at state. Good luck Ladies!

8-10 in OT sounds like the match could have gone either way. The 5-4 match sounds like it could have gone either way as well. Need more info. Especially Ashley's results this season.
