I thought the Krischke/Bunch match would be good, but that's a little too close for comfort. What happened?

Not much. Bunch never really was close to scoring anything, he is just very difficult to wrestle. Plus, his ability to make it very difficult for an opponant to score on him also makes it more likely for stalling to be called on his opponant-which I do not like. Stalling could very easily be the deciding factor in a match against Bunch and the fact that he is so hard to score on... I just don't like it at all. Since he doesn't have legs you can't do over half the moves that you normally would.

Every time I see that name, I think "Krispy Kreme."

You sound like you don't like Bunch because he has short legs and no one can get moves on him.

Sounds like to me he is taking advantage of his leg size and wrestling to the best of his abilities.

The "good" matches were the Krischke-Bunch and the Porter-Gioia match.

The scoring in the Bunch match went like this...
0-0 1st
1-0 bunch 2nd
Vito reversed Bunch about twenty seconds into the 3rd and rode him the rest of the match. Lots of close calls for escapes and takedowns.

On a side note...the official for the night Barb? did an outstanding job. She let the boys wrestle and a figure out each match.

Gioia- Porter went into overtime and Porter shot a double leg and took an exhausted Gioia down.
Lots of good throws and postion fighting in this one. The first 30 sec saw a Porter headnarm, a Gioia roll through, a porter reroll, a Gioia hip up to no points for either guy.

Tulley looked as if he has taken a page out of the Bobby Conn book. He was constant motion on his feet.

Northwest was clearly the dominate team, but a lot of the Matches were closer than the score appeared ex. Uzetta-Bakai close match until the pin

Huh? :?

No, I think that it is very hard to wrestle him. Why would this make me not like him? :?

I think what he is doing is very inspiring. Bunch has the obvious dis-advantages, but the advantage of so much more upper body strength than his opponents. I think his opponents have to be able to adjust their style, and the top notch guys will. I imagine Vito's coach had some good advice since he wrestled a kid with no legs in 85. I hope Bunch medals at state. Looks like he very well could.

He is hard to wrestle because he is different.

Every wrestler has differences and a wrestler has to learn to use strenghts and weaknesses. Some guys are long, short, strong, fast, etc.

A wrestler that competes against him can only do half of his moves, but on the flip side, Trevor can only do half of the moves that are taught.

He has only been wrestling 1 1/2 years. He is only going to get better and better. Don't look for him to get easier to wrestle any time soon. I think by districts, he should be ready to make some noise.

Also, Vito is a two-time All-American..you will not hear him complaining about a tough match. He probably loves the competition. He is an awesome kid!

I don't think the Porter match was as close as you are making it out to be. Porter was up by 3 with 30 seconds left and chose to cut the guy then got taken down in a silly scramble. That was the only offensive points Chet was able to do the entire match. Then, 5 seconds into OT Ron takes him down again.

It was 6-6 and went into overtime...how is that not a close match? None of the points were penalty points so Gioia did get something offensive.

Porter may be the better wrestler, but Gioia could have won that match.

Also, the "silly scramble" was a straight shot double leg takedown. That is not really a scramble.

Though I didn't see the match, by definition, I have to agree. Any match that goes into overtime is a close match no matter how good each wrestler is perceived to be.

Looks like Nw's freshman creamed mhs and their jv lost to mhs in the last match. Bunch Vito match was amazing and bunch should have had the escape at end of match to tie it and bring it into overtime but ref didnt give it to him although she did an excellent job the entire night

One HUGE advantage Bunch has is that he wrestles the same way against everyone, but the person wrestling him has to completely change the way they are used to wrestling-which can be very confusing and leads to a situation were stalling is more likely to be called. That's what irks me. It's not Bunch's fault of course, I just hope the ref's aren't so quick to pass the judgement call on his opponants because I think they ARE working, but just are at a loss for what to do.

 Backing up the entire time is stalling. Ever heard of a front head lock? Of a snap go behind? You know for weeks you are going to wrestle the guy if you cannot figure something out and have to back up the entire time you deserve to be called for stalling. :smt068

good lucking snapping down Bunch he only benches what...300 plus
that kid is huge He is incredibly strong which makes it even more difficult to work anything because you cant wrestle upper body with him either
I do see darfs....I mean Loudens point it is extremely hard to wrestle against him and I think that this should be taken into consideration when reffing A Bunch match...however I also agree with conn if you are backing up constantly that is stalling...but conn....snapdowns...not going to work
I once wrestled trevor(no i did not lose) and talked to him for a while afterwards hes a great kid best of luck to him

The toughest guy you face is the one across the mat. Get ready, get beat or join the spectators. Like I said everybody knows about Trevor he is no secret
